When I bought my TL, in the cupholder there is a little holder of osme sort that doesn't seem to fit ANYWHERE....it seems to be an ashtray or something, but when I rested my rolled up cigarette in there, the bottom of the plastic started melting...usually ashtrays tend to be heat resistant enough that they don't melt when a smoke is resting on it...so I'm thinking maybe I was wrong...anyone have any ideas as to what the hell this is? Or if you don't know what it is, anyone have good ideas for applications? Thanx!!!

I think that's the OBD connector cover that goes underneath the coin tray and between the heated seat buttons

are you talking about the little round 1/2 inch or so tall plastic cup? if so that was hondas idea of making a soda can fit tighter in the cupholder. its supposed to fit in the closest to the shifter cupholder in the bottom.

fsttyms1: Yeah, I am talking abut the little 1/2 inch black cup thingie...I tried fitting it down there before, but it won't go...am I supposed to use the cupholder insert with it? or just the cupholder? Because there is a cupholder part you can put in to make it more shallow, or you can take it out and there are little recesses at the bottom, is this what you mean?

Yeah, that little piece is for the cup holder. Mine doesn't seat very well in the front cup "slot" so I would never put a can/cup in it without keeping a hand out for support. There's another thread bouncing around today that talks about replacing the 2K's cup holder "assembly" with one from a 01-03. The 01-03 cup holder will fit our cars after you trim some tabs on the holder. I think it's like a $8 part and worth every cent.
