Some fun with I/H/E/P

I bought my 00'TL-P just before the Type-S version came out and have done a few mods to get the power up, which I would have done anyway I guess. Stock it couldn't do a burnout at all, or very little. So it now has headers, exaust, an AEM CAI and a UR crank pulley. So my brother is in town visiting and of course we go for a ride as yesterday the weather was perfect here in Maryland. I told him I use the power I have on the roll as our trannys are questionable and that burnouts are pretty tough on the system. I also have 146,000 miles on the car and didn't want to press my luck. Anyway he kept pushing me to nail it from a stop while he watched so I did..and I must say I was impressed. The car laid TWO patches we quessed to be 25 feet long, and here all this time I thought only one tire would spin. I give alot of the added power credit to the pulley, as from a stop the car really moves out with alot less effort. The tires are "plus one" sized too.

The high miles are from using the car for work as a sales rep. The tranny is still the first one! I'll be doing a 150K repert here shortly.

I plan to do I/H/E/P but im afraid to to pulleys, everyone i talk to (other than race enthusiasts of cource) said they wouldent touch it with a 50 foot pole. But i wouldent mind lighting up my plus 3 size Potenza's every once in a while

What do you guy think I/H/E/P would add total to a TL-P?

These hp figures are dyno-proven, but I don't know what the sum total is because they wash together so to speak. For the TL-P headers 16, CAI 7, pulleys 10, and mufflers 2 or 3. I also am running 180 thermostat and 184 degree fan switch all from Mugen with the idea of keeping the coolant temperature down so that the ECU keeps the mixture richer thus more hp, as opposed to hotter and leaner. This was dynoed to give 2 or 3. Add them all up and you get 37 hp added to stock 225 for 262 or so, but in reality it's probably more like 250 to 255 at 6000 rpms, just my wild guess. That's at the crank also, wheel hp would be less.

I've got a 1999 TL-P with Comptech Icebox and Headers (53Kmiles). Here are links to my Dyno done at Comptech a few weeks ago.
Dyno Graph
Dyno Chart

I only dynoed at 179HP at the wheel. I'm not sure how much the pulleys will add.

when you guys burnout do you floor it or 12/ throttle or 3/4 throttle...when i floor it....there seems to be hesitation...so i dont know the ideal throttle position to get maximum slippage...
btw....i dont need anyone telling me how childish burning out is...im young..i can be childish

Yea, the stock TL-p Dyno at wheels does about 164 HP.... Who would adding Headers and Icebox intake make the HP actually... Well, kinda the same. It seems the torque is up though.

ha, burnouts? I love doing it... I don't know, every time I do burnouts, the smoke comes out of the vents!!! My girl would get mad at me when I do burnouts because as soon as the smoke comes out of the vents, it smells like **** in the car...
