Solaris bulbs vs PIAA

Has anybody tried the Solaris ultra white bulbs for their fogs? I have been debating on getting the PIAA superplasmas, but I felt that they were a tad too blue/purple.

Anyways, I just got the Solaris bulbs and found that they are 80W, as compared to the stock 55W. Do you guys think I'll be running the risk of buring out the wiring?

Question

Good question.... I've been wondering this too. It's also a problem b/c the PIAAs have been known to blow out fairly quickly, so an alternative bulb would be a good thing.......

In my past experience, although burning out the wires is always a concern, the additional heat build-up inside the lamp housing itself is the real problem. Without adequate ventilation, higher-wattage bulbs suffer serious premature failure.

Question

My Super Plasma is still running fune after a year and a half. Are PIAA bulbs really easy to die?

I remember in my old 94 vtec lude...I switched out my headlight housings for the japanese one piece ones. It caused me to switch out my headlight wiring since the japanese housings used a H4 for the low/high beam and an H1 driving light. After switching it I decided to run the 80/80W Piaa Superwhites...after a while I noticed it just melted my connectors down...not good...upgraded to a piaa wiring harenss and no problems afterwards....
I think the stocke wiring wouldn't be able to handle the new bulbs...from my personal experience...also those fogs are pretty small...dunno if they will be able to dissipate the extra heat...just my thoughts

PIAA is the way to go

I have been very happy with the PIAA products for years. Right now I got the PIAA in the high beams for over 6 months without any problems. I also used them in my other cars and it lasted quite a long time. I think some people might have touched the bulbs with their finger during installation and the oil from the hand will shorten the bulb life. Don't get the Solaris it is junk. My friend got a pair and it is really CHEAP (BAD)! He returned it and got a pair for PIAA instead. He has been happy ever since.
