With so many rotors going bad......

should I go to dealership and try to get mine replace. I saw someone wrote (on the Rotor Petition Post) there's a newly designed rotor out. I haven't ran into anyproblem yet (@13,000 miles). Based no. of problems folks ran into with their rotors, do you think the dealership will replace mine w/o me actually having problems with my rotors (providing proof such as the petition post). ;@? Just Wondering.......

When I took my car for the 1st oil change last week, I asked the head mechanic about the rotors and trannys, he told me that (for the rotors) the '03 models have new pads because the compound in the pads were causing the rotors to head up more than normal and warping them. As for the trannys, he said that they don't mess around with it, they will replaced if it fails, they will not repair them or nothing like that.
I think that if you don't have any problems, they will not replace yours.

Actually, the pad composition was changed as of the 2002 model year, but it didnt (doesnt) do anything. My rotors warped on my 2002 at 12k and replaced them under warranty along with the pads, and by 25k the problem was back again. I said screw it and put on Bremo blanks and Hawk pads from tirerack instead. I dont have the time to keep going back to the dealer over and over about the rotors/pads. Hopefully, the aftermarket setup will last longer. Its only been 7k miles since I did the swapout so its too early to tell.

I will tell you from experience that you can't turn warped rotors and expect them to solve the problem. When they warm up they will re warp. When they are turned they are cold so they are not at operating temps.
I just took my car to the dealer with the dreaded pulsating pedal at 16,000 miles. With no argument they turned the rotors on the car and replaced the pads.
Very nice of them except the first time the brakes got hot the pulsation came back and now I will legislate for new rotors.
In my road racing days we sometimes salvaged trashed rotors by Blanchard grinding but that is expensive and very few machine shops know what you are talking about. certainly they're not going to do that at your friendly dealer. It didn't always work either.
New rotors and pads are the only thing that is going to cure this problem.

I got new rotors with new pads when mine went (at about 10k miles or so) and didn't have any issues for over 25k miles of very hard driving...
