So, Did everybody get offered FREE Oil Changes?
#2
i didn't get any at acura of pasadena (california) but they are not too far from me so i am willing to go back to them for servicing. had i bought the car from a distant dealer, then for sure i am not going back to them...even if i did get free coupons. considering the time involved and the price of gas, it's not worth saving the 20 (not sure of the price) or so bucks.

I got 2 free oil changes at my dealer (Sierra). Since I go to school in OC I went to Tustin for Service. One time, they need to fix my moonroof rattle, and since it's already 4:30...they said i can have a loaner for the next day and return it when I pick up my car...I was driving 2000 Integra for a while...
I think Tustin Acura is good, but they lost my brand new air freshener while doing it, but they offered to give me back $$. I will find out next week.

Poeple, the Acura free oil changes are free everywhere if you buy or leased a new Acura, don't let any dealer tell you otherwise. (This is another classic dealer scare tactic.)
Acura PAYS the dealers for this service, and its part of the Acura TLC package that comes with every new Acura.

I didnt get free oil changes with my deal.. "the TLC (Total Luxury Care) program is a collection of special services and privileges provided exclusively to you, our customer." TLC represents the special attention by Acura and you Acura dealer to ensure your long-term driving and ownership satisfaction. Features:
-Acura Roadside Assistance
-Acura concierge Service
-4yr/50k Limited Warranty
-Special Owner Communications and Privileges
-Acura Internet Web Site and Dealer Web Sites
-Acura Customer Relations
there are alot of other (small) things they have to offer with this program.. some Ill never use. All this was taken out of the Acura TLC flyer that I have. You can pick one up at any dealer.

I got a free oil change from the dealership.
When I purchased my 2000TL on 12/28/99 the salesman gave me a coupon from the dealership for the first oil change to be free. After a few months I was sent a reminder in the mail that the oil change was free. The dealership now sends E-Mails for specials that they have. They had oil change free tire rotation & brake inspection for $23.00. Then they had one last week for parts special. This was if you had already purchased or plan to buy mud guards trunk tray & I forget what else it was a package deal. If you had purchased all 3 at any time you could get money back. The warranty covers a loaner car anytime your car goes in for warranty service.

The dealer where I bought mine goes one better - they give you the first 2 years scheduled maintenance free. This is something they always do, it's not even negotiable. When I bought my '00 TL, I went with a different dealer, and although they were a couple hundred less, they didn't include the maintenance. As I learned while maintaining that car, 2 years of free maintenance is worth about $800.

I purchased mine from Fountain Acura in Orlando and I just had my first oil change done at 3,100 + miles and it was totally FREE! I also was given a loaner car for the day (a 2001 CL) while my window recall was being repaired. Was treated top notch!!! Also, whenever you take your car in they wash it as well.......really great service.

What is the TLC package? and how do I find out what it includes other than oil changes?
I checked the acura.com site and couldn't find anything about TLC.
The interesting thing is that I told a salesperson that my local dealer was gonna sell me the car for the same price and include free O/C, and this other salesperson dropped the price another $300.

The service from Montclair Acura was to give the first oil change free and the 4th oil change free ONLY if I stay with the scheduled maintenance that is listed in the service handbook.

That doesn't surprise me that your local dealer won't honor the free maintenance. That is a John Eagle thing, not an Acura thing. They said the reason they do it is because most of their customers live in the area, and they want people to get used to bringing their car there for service the first 2 years, so they will continue to do it afterwards.
I think they make up for it somewhat with their paying customers - I noticed that their service is about 10-15% higher than other dealers. Funny thing is, I bought my first Acura at Gillman, but had it serviced at John Eagle because it's between my house and work, which is very convenient. So, I didn't need the free maintenance to get me to go there, even though it was a little more expensive. But, I'm sure happy to take it!

FREE OIL CHANGES?!!! I didn't get jack squat from Duncan Acura in Roanoke, VA. But I did get what seems to be a pretty good deal on my TL-S (w/ spoiler, splash guards, wheel locks, trunk tray for a tad over $31k)

You have to negoiate for the free oil change. I have 4 free oil change from Superior Acura, Kansas City. We were setting the final price and there was $100 difference between my asking price and their lowest selling price. So I paid their price but got 4 Oil changes from them. It's a wash for me.

Because I do most of my own service myself, one of my last negotiating tricks (after I've got the price where I want it) is to have the dealer throw in a half dozen OEM oil filters so I can do my own changes. It's not a lot of $$$ but it helps. When I bought my ABP w/NAV this past Saturday, the dealer screwed up and gave me 10 OEM filters instead of 6. That'll last me a while....

Guys, see my post in a similiar topic about free oil changes. If your dealer isn't telling you about them, they're pocketing cash from Acura, since Acura WANTS dealers to offer free oil changes and pays them to provide this service.

Free oil changes, along with a wash and vacuum. Although, I am picky (or is anal a better word?) about washing my cars, so I will probably NOT let them wash it. Maybe they will give me a free mocha or something instead. haha
Also, my salesperson said when my TL-S goes in the shop, I can have her RL demo for a loaner. Anyone driven an RL before?

Unless the dealership has a car wash, I also don't let them wash it. A friend of mine had her Saab washed after one service, and the entire car was covered with small surface scratches.
Seems the guy who washed the cars was around 70 years old, and he used a mitt that was covered with dirt and sand...
To their credit, the service manager had the car immediately taken to the body shop where the buffed and polished the entire car until she was happy.

What we really need to know is this, has anyone gone to a different dealer and tried to get the free oil changes yet?
In another 2900 miles, I will be trying, but until then, I'd like to hear if anyone stands up and rightfully receives their some TLC from a dealer where they didn't buy it.

Guys, again - read my comments on the free oil changes in a related thread.
Car manufacturers want to get leased cars and trade ins back that have been properly maintained, and just about every car manufacturer - especially luxury manufacturers, pay dealers to offer free oil changes to intice people to get their vehicles serviced at the dealership on a schedule. Manufacturers have been burned by people returning leased cars that have never had their oil changed, and this minor investment pays itself back many times over when the dealership gets cars back that have been properly maintained by the dealership!
Dog> I'm someone who bought my TLS to a dealer I didn't buy the car from, and I was offered the same free oil changes and loaner car program :-) Again, Service could care less where you bought the car from - they want you to keep coming back to them for your major service, so the $10 they spend changing your oil a few times is nothing!
