Talking snow-gliding

went out to the bennett field (in nyc where we had the tl/cl meet) yesterday to play around in the snow.... i gotta say, its the most fun i've ever had in the car. the snow was deep enough to be a lot of fun and raise waves taller than the car, but not too deep to get me stuck... i was doing 360's, power slides, backward 180's, had snow cover the car during slides... i had the sunroof open and ended up with a bunch of snow in my mouth

i had a friend along and we both ended up screaming like we were on a roller-coaster and then giggling like little girls... man.. so much fun...

thatsame friend also brought his 2000 323i and i gotta say our cars are as different as day and night. when he has his VSA equivalent on, u cannot get the car to slide for nething... it breaks and steps off the gas and makes the whole ride very steady and boring because it wont let you pick up speed... turn it off and u cant move from the spot cuz the wheels are slipping too much... so we had to start with vsa on and then turn it off for the fun stuff once we had some speed... now the tl is awesome... since we only have tsc, i left it on all the time, picked up speed and just threw myself into 360's and slides and all sorts of other stuff... used the footbrake for the 360's and it worked great... i thought i wouldnt be able to use it like a hand-brake, but it worked great without problems... oh.. and the 323 got stuck twice and i had to push it out with the tl ... so much for their great RWD... never had any problems at all with the tl in the 3-6" snow or even deeper in some spots... amazing experience... i recommend it to all of you who are willing to have some fun with the car and dont get nauseous easily... man... i couldnt get the smile off my face for about an hour after that... only thing i regret is not taking my camera.. but if the snow holds up till next sat. i'm going to do it again... neone else wanna join?

Thanks, but I'll pass... I love my car too much to do that to it. Glad you had fun though.

I do those stuff all da time, man. However it feels different when you are sliding on the snow. You don't hear the tires burning, and you feels like that you are in slow motion mode.

Anyways glad to know that you had fun. But be careful anyways, and wish I get no more snows up here in Canada.

It's also pretty fun to do in the rain.....but much better with a hand brake.

Actually snow is probably easier on the tires than rain, but, ahem, FL....

just make sure there are no lamp posts waiting around w/ your name on them!

Get video!

Cool

I used to do this every year in an 84 Accord. It is a good way to learn how to handle a car in rough conditions. It's also a lot of fun.
