Snow Is Coming....

I see that some snow is coming to my area this weekend and being that this is my first winter with my '99 TL i was wondering if anyone with some first hand experiance could tell me how well the 99s hold up in wintery conditions. I know it has traction control and everything but so do many cars, and every car varies.
Thanks

it handles the snow GREAT with snow tires. the factory tires are barely good at best

I have to admit, our car is pretty good in the snow (granted you don't drive like a maniac). This is where FWD shines!

But if you can afford winter tires then do it.

I agree with Bihn...the car handles well. Just take it slow and don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

...don't forget to wave to the rear-wheel-drive BMWs spun out in the ditch as you go...

Funny you should mention that... 2 things:

1. This is my first winter with my 00 TL and I was a little concerned about how it would handle in the snow with the stock tires. But, much to my relief, the cars snow performance is predictable and handles fine.

2. I passed a F-250 trying like hell to pull a 330ci out of a ditch this morning. The driver was standing on the side of the road watching, and was also carrying around his right side mirror.

Driving in the snow today my TCS turned on a bunch of times, everytime it tunded on, I would hear this loud grinding noise. It this normal????? Other than that car drove great in the snow. Today was the first and last time my TL will see snow, as i put my old exporler on the road.

I'm good, bring on the snow/slush/ice. I put my 17" OEM chromies/tires in bags and slapped on a set of 2000 TL 16" wheels with 205/60/16 Wintermaster snow tires.

With the TCS and VSA, the car handles like a champ in the snow. Since they use salt up here in MinneSNOWta, my chromies have been off since I saw the first orange salting truck back in early Nov.

I am moving back home to Denver, so instead of salt, I got sand and rocks to deal with.

Can't wait for spring! Slap my OEM chrome back on!
