my cousin has the 5 spd, he is no race car driver, but knows how to use a stick just fine, and im also no pro driver myself, but i have beat him every time we went at it, i think 6 times now, a few times it was only by half my car though so it is a good race.

Nice job, but don't expect that outcome against every 330i...........I have one and have raced my friend's 02 TL-S many times, both on the highway and from a stop and the outcome has always been the same, although pretty close.

LOL that's funny; I think your friend can't drive.
If it were a manual it'd could go either way, as long as you were racing him in a straight line (otherwise you'd wallow all over the road).

YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY YOU SMOKED A ROLLS ROYCE; THESE CARS ARE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS.
If it makes you feel better about what you own, then good for you.

Because I own both a TL and a '01 330xi I can say this unbiased.

How convenient. Lets see some pictures. By the way, the only way a 330i will hang with a TL-S is if its a manual. If it's an auto, no chance.

*See the edit, I obviously meant MANUAL, not auto as I mis-typed; that much should be obvious - thanks for pointing it out however*

Because of your mis-typed comment, it made it seem that you didn't actually have a 330i. But now that you withdrew / fixed your previous comment, I have no problem believing you. The pictures simply seal the deal.

By the way, you have a TLP and PimpTypeS has a type S. There is a huge difference in their performance but I think you are already aware of that.

I'm far from cocky; in-fact, the 330xi is my wifes everyday car, the TL is mine. I would adamantly defend the TL anyday (and have) if someone said something about it I new to be untrue, even on a BMW message board. Similarly, I would do the same in defense of the BMW.

In the case of the original post, who made the cocky comment "FUX A BIMMER"? The first message made a blanket incorrect statement and I simply corrected it. Now who was being cocky 'this is me'? Who thought he was "all that" in the first message?

Enough said.

whatever i still think that for it being a bimmer "the ultimate driving machine" it suxs...its a 2 door 2003 330i manual w/ triptronic that costs about like $40K or more to get it w/ "some" decent options to make it interior wise comparable to my 2003 tls w/ heated seats ,mirrors and all the standard stuff that i get for $31,000 that its costs $40K for a bimmer..i cant wait to catch a little pretty boy on South Beach and imbarrass him in front of all those fines girls on a saturday night on Collins Ave..the only thing the bimmer does have is a lower ride height which gives it better handeling but ill take care of that w/ $200 Eibach Pro Kit..Laterz

You are gonna need a whole lot more than an Eibach Pro Kit to make it handle like a 330................I have a 330i with sport package, as well as an accord v6 sedan, which shares the same suspension setup as a TL. I have comptech springs, tokico illuminas, a TL-S strut bar, and comptech sways on it, as well as wheels and tires (the same tires that are on the 330 sport package). It handles great for what it is, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't hold a candle to what the 330i does stock. Have you ever even driven one? Yes, they are though to be overpriced, and to a certain extent that is correct, however, the suspension, engine, interior, and brakes cannot be compared to that of the TL. They are two different cars in different classes in my opinion. I love the TL-S, I think it is a great car for the price, and certainly wouldn't mind owning one, but don't knock BMW until you have actually had the chance to drive the new 3 series, you might just be suprised at how refined the car is and how well put together. One thing I am disappointed about is the fact that a 40k plus car should come with color matched side moldings, I think that was being a little cheap on BMW's part.......I'm probably gonna get them painted though, I can't stand the way it looks, but I can honestly say that's my only complaint

The VSA is always ON, unless you turn it off. Do you always turn yours off to drive and then just tested it with it on??

And it probably didn't do "some weird" shizzle, it probably was just doing it's job and trying to stop your wheels from spinning outta control.

BTW: if it was a 2 door, then it's a Ci not an i.

Manual w/triptronic???? I'm lost. How is this possible? First of all, it would have to be a "tip"-tronic (ok just poking fun on that one ).....but seriously, is it a manual or an auto with tiptronic?

And yes, accordv6 is certainly correct, a heck of a lot more than a spring kit will get you the handling that thing has.

He said he has a 2001TL but the link page
http://members.cox.net/grimd/2000TL.JPG
said 2000TL
But hey, doesn't mean I don't believe that he doesn't have a 2001 TL, I was just asking. 2000 or 2001 TL both are ok except for trans problems.

How old are u? And u have a TL-P? Then this did not happen. Auto 3s are almost as swift as the manuals. BTW, I like the rubber moldings on BMWs, it gives it it's Bimmer look. And yeah it costs more but for a reason, stock, not many, if any cars handle and give the drivers experience as well as them.

:goldfish: Even if you won, BMW>Acura and this is what air-headed girls notice. And a lower ride height does not equate to better handling and some springs won't make any car handlike like a BMW.

It's funny because 75% of the hot chicks my way tend to hate guys that drive the bimmers. Girls know that these guys think they are the sh*t with the BMW and they hate that. And i live in NY.

heh..not that hard to drive stick in a straight line..just rev to 3k rpms, dump the clutch, floor it, clutch, shift, and repeat..
Our autos are consistent..but not if u beat on them ilke that, remember our tranny problems =(

I think guys are more impressed with cars then girls ever will be. If you need a 30k+ car to get a girl's attention....thats sad.....If you win a race......it gives you confidence and lowers the other guy's confidence.......thats the reason I like racing.

y'all soooooo stoooooopid.... stock for stock, the only three series that even has a chance with the almighty TL-S is an M3 (new generation). I don't care what type of driver you can be. Under identical, ideal, consistent circumstances, both drivers being equal, the acura comes up on top every time. every time. every time. In addition, how many stock BMWs (3 series) do you know that can brush 150 mph?!?!?!?!?!?

BTW... 330Ci is a two door, RWD while the TL-S is a four door, FWD. These two are in different classes. The Xi is AWD(?) setting it further apart.

Sheeeesh... :flamer:

Yeah Stiletto, it's kinda hard for a stock 3-series to hit 150mph when it's electronically speed limited to 128mph.

PS: 330i sports package 0-60 < 5.9 seconds.

PS: Performance wise, FWD sucks.

I wouldn't do it, especially with a TL-P........if you had a TL-S maybe, but even with your mods, you are gonna get taken.

Don't matter if they be three Washingtons, Lincolns, hamiltons, Jacksons, Grants, or Franklins...

If the race is long (past 128 mph) you will win according to Severin. He might have you off the line but you will humiliate him in about 15 seconds.

If it is a little drag race.... and you don't shift out of third, blow the launch, or forget to do any of the essential preparations before the tree lights green, you won't have any problems.

I used to own a BMW. Great cars in many, many respects, just seriously getting into the TL-S magic, however. I envy you for having the headers. I wish I had them on my TL-S. When my car hits 5K at 120 mph in 4th (vtech babie)... with headers it must be just so much sweeter....
