I when to get my 02 TL-S smog checked in Cali, I brought my car back from Hawaii and i need a smog check to get it registered.

I went to the testing center yesterday, the mech calibrated the machine, they rolled my car in and started to test....Well, the problem is that for some reason the machine will give "error or problem codes" and stops the entire testting process. He tried to test my car 4 times, but each time it says "Speed Violation" or "Acceleration Violation." I don't know how the machine is suppose to actually work, but it wouldn't complete the test, so i didn't pass or fail. The mech told me my throttle body is dirty and it needs to be cleaned because that is what is causing the problem since he can't say within the speed and acceleration lines.

True or BS?

 

spray carb cleaner in ur TB and inside the engine, read directions and try again..

 

Try to get a few good referals before having it smog checked.
