small tear in leather?
I've recently noticed a small tear on the left side of the driver seat going about an inch and a half in length. It appears that the leather around it cracked off. There is only 16,000 miles on my 2001 and I was wondering if I could get the seat repair or possibly replaced under warrenty? Thanks!

yes you possibly could!
it depends on wether you caused the initial damage to cause the cracking, or there is a defect inherrent in the leather, and the cracking led to the other damage?. kman

I don't know if you can get it repaired under warranty, but if you take it to a good upholstery shop they should be able to fix the tear. It shoudln't cost that much to fix a tear in the leather. There are even some do it yourself kits to fix leather that work pretty good too.

Take it back. you have 4 years 50,000 miles warranty. I assume it is a manufacturers defect. If you sit on your keys and poke a hole in it then it is your fault, the dealer won't replace it.
What my dealer did was order a new leather (skin) from Acura and got a local upholstery shop to replace my seat (bottom only). The upholstery charged the dealer $75 in labor. I got it under warranty. Hope it helps

See the thing is that the tear is not even on the part of the seat that people sit on. It's on the left side of the seat parallel to the door. My theory is that when I sit on the seat it squishes the sides down and when I get out of the car the leather side reforms and when this happens periodically, the leather starts to crack forming a tear. My concern is that if I don't get this fixed right now, then it will just continue to grow. I think I will take it up to the dealer to see if they will cover is in the warrenty. Thanks a bunch!
