Small recommendation for '99 TL owners

This is not a big deal, but at one point we had a '99 TL and an '01 TL (replaced '01 with MDX). The '01's cup holder is far superior to the '99's. In the '99, if you have a cup of coffee in the slot closest to the shift, when you pull off, it wants to fall into the second slot, and if you put it in the second slot, then you can't pull the armrest forward, which is where I like mine. The '01's holder holds the cup much more snug so there is very little movement available.

My solution was to go to Acura and buy the cupholder for the '01 and put it in the '99. It cost less than $10. When you get it you will need to cut off all of the little extensions I guess are used to keep it snug in the "01. I just used a pocket knife to do this. They come right off.

Since I have had it I have not had any trouble with movement at all, with either the holder fitting in the '99 slot, or cups moving around. This is just a suggestion for '99 owners that may not be aware they can improve their lot for a very minor expense.

Yes old news but good news I did this last year about this time.
This was new news about this time last year. This is good for some of you that did not know about this site then. Like owners of 99-00 TL cars that maybe used & still have the original cup holder.

Here's another 1999 (only) TL mod you can do: chrome your shift plate. Do a search for chrome shift plate, and you'll see that it's an easy mod to do and looks great!

BTW, why did you replace the '01 instead of the '99? The '01 is a better car in my opinion, as it has more standard features than the '99.
