Signs of a Tranny Failure?
Signs of a Tranny Failure?
Here's the scenario:
My tranny takes a few extra seconds to engage into any gear after it's warm. When it engages into gear (i.e. from P to D) the car jerks forward a bit. Here's the worse part of it all -- when driving in automatic it behaves like it does not want to shift out at all! When it finally shifts from 1 to 2 (or 2 to 3) the delay causes the car to jerk real bad. As a matter of fact this even caused the tires to squeel at one point! After a few times of the jerking the Engine light and the TCS light both came on at the same time. Checked the fluid and everything looks fine. What next? Is this possibly the end of the road for my transmission? I currently have 101,500 miles on my car (out of warranty), and I am one of the few who own the 4-speed automatic that rarely causes problems.
By the way, my tranny fluid was last changed at 81,000 miles.

the biggest sign (my 2) are a delayed shift from 1-2 and 2-3 (like a slipping clutch) the delayed shift from park to gear is normal. i had mine covered at 115,000 miles under warranty, but i have a 2000.
Took my car to dealer this morning and left out with a TSX loaner. They told me to enjoy because I'll own it for the next 7-10 days. Needlesstosay, the tranny is gone and they are going to take care of me.
i have a 00 tl-p. when it goes from 3rd t o2nd, the rpms shoot up for a split second and then come back down.... anybody have any idea what that means!?!?
mdavisii, sucks that ur tranny died, bright side is that your warranty is covering it AND you got a TSX to abuse for the next few days. i dont even know if my warranty is intact b.c i bought my car at a dealer auction and im under 21 so i wont get a loaner :'(

What other signs of tranny failures are there ?
On a diffrent note, when my car was having its fog light replaced and the purge valve replaced at the dealer, they gave me a TSX as a loaner for a few days since they didnt have the fog light in stock.
