Thumbs down SIGH........

I SAW THE GOLD COLOURED TL-S TODAY AT T.O AUTO SHOW, AND I MUST SAY I WAS DISSAPOINTED. THE COLOUR REALLY MADE THE CAR LOOK VERY AVERRAGE AND SINCE IT WAS BASICALLY BESIDE THE CURRENT TL, THE OLD ONE ACTUALLY LOOKED BETTER(BLACK, WITH ALL THE FIXINS)! BUT THE MOST DISSAPOINTING FACTOR WAS THE PRICE. $41 000 WAS THE MSRP. I ASKED THE 3 SALES PEOPLE AND THEY ALL SAID THIS PRICE WAS FIRM AND REALLY DOUBT THAT ANY KIND OF A DISCOUNT COULD BE IMPLEMENTED ON THE CAR. ALL CLAIMED THAT IF LUCKY, MAYBE THE DEALER WOULD KNOCK OFF AT MOST $100. $100? THAT MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHEN BUYING A CAR COSTING AROUND$48000-49000 ON THE ROAD IN CANADA. THE PRICE TAG TURNED OUT ABOUT $3000 MORE EXPENSIVE THAN I EXPECTED AND TL-S IS CROSSED OFF MY SHOPPING LIST. BTW, IT'S $5000 MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE CURRENT TL (JUST NOT WORTH IT IN MY MIND)IN THE MSRP AND ON THE ROAD, IT COULD ACTUALLY TURN OUT TO EASILY BE $8000-$10000 MORE EXPENSIVE SINCE THERE IS EASY BARGIN ON CURRENT TL'S ONCE THE TL-S COME IN AND TL HAVE NO DISCOUNT WHATSOEVER.

Question

GOLD??? The color chart for the TL Type-S shown on the bottom of the Type-S page on this site doesn't have Gold listed as a color for the Type-S. Do you typically get different colors up there?

We often get different ie fewer colour selections up here and often no choice on interior colour up here. For example with the black exterior we can only get the black interior and not the parchment. I saw the TL-S in gold at the Toronto Auto Show and although I have a gold TL in think if I were to buy a type-S I would get a sportier colour. With respect to the price I was hoping it would come in a bit less, but when I compared the type-S to other comparable cars at the show, it was still much less expensive.

For reference, the TL-S price of $41,000 Canadian is exactly $1,000 Canadian (around $650 US) more than the MSRP of the CL-S in Canada.

From this is this reasonable to conclude the the TL-S in the US will be between $500 and $1000 more than the CL-S's US MSRP.

I am a bit surprised that people were expecting something less than this. Sedans are usually slightly more than coupes.

Most people expected less than this becuz Acura keeps reiterating how competitive the price of the TL-S would be to other competitors. I actually tend to disagree with sedans being less expensive than coupes. I think that they are usually $1000-2000 more; example, the BMW 3Series coupe, past integras, civic coupe, solara, volvo's c70..and so on....
I also called around to all the dealers in the Toronto area and even though they didn't know the exact price (i called just 2 weeks ago), most of the salemen said $38 000-$40 000. None of them predicted higher than $40 000 and a couple of them told me $40 000 at most becuz the CL-S is $40 000 and sedans are usually less than or equal to coupe prices.

Rock, you made my point. Once you saw the price wasn't going to budge, you went elsewhere.
The biggest advantage Acura has over the competition is price.
To hold fast to Sticker is really dumb.

Yeah, i really can't see why the TL-S is $5000 more expensive than the TL now. Is it really worth it? I really don't think so. I was talking to the slaes rep at the autoshow and he said the 17" rims were already $2500 upgrade. The preforated leather seats, 6-Cd-changer, memory seats+mirrors, and the engine are the major differnces and really, that's not really worth $5000 if u break it all down. The biggst problem i have is that the 17' were a $2500 upgrade? i mean, come on, i'm not an idiot. I would understand the $2500 more, if i got the original 16" but i don't. so they are basically telling me that the 17" cost $2500 + the cost of the 16", therefore coming out to $4000-$5000? please, give me some credit here Acura.

Honda has the same price for its Accord EX coupe and sedan versions. Using the same logic one can expect the TL-S and CL-S prices should be very close.

I agree IBlue. Look at the price of the 2001 CL-S and that ought to be real close to the asking price for the 2002 TL-S. @ 33k with NAV.
