Unhappy Side Airbag Light

Name says it all. Momma got a new TL for the new year. She's got less than 500 miles on it and she gets an intermittent light. Called Acura dealer and was told that "anything on the seat will cause this". Wife thinks that's crap and that her purse shouldn't set off the warning light. Anybody seen any TSB or have any other insight?

BTW she's the one that decided on the car and had to have the factory body kit and spoiler. I'm worrying about her when the breakin is over.

i agree it is normal, it is like this because if the person sitting there is less than 100 lbs or sitting in the wrong position the side air bag will not deploy and injure this person in the pass seat.

Oh yeah, well back in my day we didn't even have side airbags, just front. We just had to grab on to our oh sh-- handles and hang on (in the snow, barefoot, uphill.....)

At least our backs were warm. Ha Ha

The light is an annoyance, possibly, but also testament to the safety and ingenuity of the car's design.
