Thumbs down Sick of it

First of all, hello everyone, I registered a long time agod, but since then I have only lurked, to try and learn the ropes and not make a you-know-what of myself. Second, I searched on this and did not find anything, but if I am just blind and missed it, please point me in the right direction.

Ok, here goes, mine is a 2002 TL-S, SSM, NAV, all of it. 24k on it almost, had it for a year yesterday. I am ready to trade this in. It has been in the shop every 2 months for things, the sunroof, other stuff like that, it still has dash rattles and other rattles, in fact it has more rattles than my friend's '98 Jetta. Then today I start the car up, and there is this clicking coming from above my feet, like the A/C is trying to switch the vent over or somthing, you know, but this continues on and ratchets...for about 30 seconds. It is very different from the thump of the A/C compressor engaging, so its not that. On top of that, my rearview mirror on the passenger side is LOUD and skips in the middle when it moves down and back when shifting from reverse. Then there is the loud THWACK! just after startup when I turn my wheels almost to the lock on the wheel. It is underbody I think, I can feel it in the wheel when it happens, and it does it in either direction, and it resonates through the frame of the car.I almost want to go and find that guy that bought my '98 F-150 and trade for it back. It ran just fine...pulled trailers and did it all, gave me 65,000 miles with no grief...from a POS American truck...sigh...there is my vent, anyone know what this clicking may be? I am going to point it out when the car goes in Monday for service (The dealer said no loaner, since its Christmas...that P*SSED me off)

I want to shove this car up the dealer manger's butt, and we have known him since '94 when we bought a Jeep from him, nice guy, but this car fills me with so much rage sometimes.

Funny you say that you had your window regulator replaced, I had mine replaced on both driver and passenger window side replaced.... Now my window begins to shake again, and it might need new regulator again.... I hate windows...

What was the problem you had with your regulator, windows shaking on the way down???

I don't know, I like my windows be nice and smooth when you open and close them, some people think I am crazzy when I show them the problem I have.... I just like when it opens without shaking and shuttering...
Did they give you hard time to replace regulator? First time I went, they told me "Could not reproduce", I had to come again and show it to them.... they said they replaced the regulator, but it did not get much better (only little better).... so I don't know, I'll try to complain again but they will probably think I am crazzy...
I love my car also, if I could only have all my rattles disapear... it would be perfect....

Well the stering pops the guy at the dealer said they just had to grease it (WTF!?! I have been under it TONS and I have not noticed any zerks...maybe I am just oblivious...but all of my oil changes were done by me, and I can usually find 'em and grease em (like on my old truck before the TL, etc.) I will probably keep the car...the popping/ratcheting I isolated, it was the HVAC trying to close the foot vent when the auto was switching it off, I got it to reproduce by forcing the HVAC to a setting where the footwell was closed...It's still a great car, but I am not doign anything mechanical for fear of losing the tranny warranty, I am even afraid to do the tranny cooler cause my dealer would just say 'aftermarket sorry' mirror is getting fixed (Anyone else have problems with that?) and I am getting a new foglight. Anyone know wehre I can buy a TL stereo...I have to have one, I don't want to leave my deck in there, and the dealer told me $150 for a new deck, so I used the old decks face to make the conversion plate to DIM size. Then I go to the dealer and they tell me its $500....$150 is if the old one failed, and you get the core charge back.

I agree that this fact didn't help out the quality of the TL-S .. but c'mon, the Max is still built in Oppama Japan (at least '03 and previous models) ...

The quality issues goes MUCH higher up than the assembly line, I think -- but I guess you have to weigh it out w/ what you get for the $$, right? Would BMW/Lexus fit and finish be worth another $5000.00 large to me? Nah... I'll deal w/ the rattles and place that $5K somewhere else...
