Question Should I trade my 00 Tl for a IS300

I have a 2000 TL with 28000 miles on it. I want a new car but do not know if I want to wait until the new TL comes out. I have driven the new 330CI BMW (nice car but not worth the money) and the G35 (no thanks). I have also driven the IS300. I like the way this car handles and the power is there. Please do not flame me but what is everyone's opinion on this? What should I do?

yo newbie

Have you forgotten this is an Acura website? You should be asking someone on a Lexus website your question. Don't waste our time...

I can't flame you or anything like that.
I just don't know your situation do you own the TL ? was it new when you got it? I just ask because I have a 2000TL also it was purchased 12/28/99 I am not intrested in getting another car at this time. I do want to know whats out in the market at the currrent time. I only would be intrested if my TL was wrecked badly or just started having major problems with the car. When I got my car my plan was on keeping it for 5yrs at the least.
If the TL Type S was out at that time I would have got it.
The TL does not even compare to IS300.
I guess you are looking at the performace part of the car.
I look at the size of a the car in terms of room inside & trunk space. The IS300 does not have what a TL has so you can't compare them. I say to you get what makes you happy but there will always be a new car out that will make you just drool.

Correction, a stock 2000 TL can beat a stock automatic IS300.

I say go for it man. But do get the manual transmission though...

I understand your situation. I have a 2000 TL and the lease is up soon. Don't want to get a 2003 TL because the new body style will be out shortly nor do I want a 2004 TL because it will be the first year of a remake. How does the IS300 compare to the TL? I know that Lexus if running a really good lease special on them right now.

Depends on what you want..Do you want a nice size sedan(TL) that will bring you and your family or friends around in comfort and style, or do you want a corolla on steriods(IS300). Don't get me wrong, I like the IS300, almost got one, but that car is soooooo small its not even funny.

Do you have a habit of changing cars every 2 years? Cause if it is then I hope that you are really rich.

BTW, what is the reason for wanting to get rid of your 2000 TL?

Back to the topic at hand.....I love the IS300, it's my favorite Lexus. I didn't buy it because the TL is simply a better deal, and is a little larger. I priced the options required to make the IS300 similar to a TL, and the IS300 ends up being more expensive.

On the other hand, if I were single (my wife doesn't drive stick ), the IS300 manual would've been much higher on my list.

@ the end... the TL is NOT a better deal/value...

You get what you paid for with all cars. The IS300 is build in Japan, which makes a difference. Havn't heard any thing about them having problem with their tranny.

So, far no Turbo/Supercharged TL that we know off that's running on the street on a daily basis.

There are a Turboed IS300, and I think it's got more potentional then the 330 with SC kit. I also believe that the BMW is worth the money as well. But you pay a lot more for the name then the extra engneering.

Keep in mind that the IS300 is based on the Altezza which is a 4 banger, so the IS300 with the I6 engine is a bit more front heavy, so the F/R weight distribution is not as good as the bimmer from an engneering point of view.

On top of all that try go over a bump with the IS300, you will feel that the chasis is a lot stronger and stiffer than the TL. Handling is way better... and bababa...

So I guess the bottom line is get the 5 speed, or else it's not really worth it!!!

ha.

all u IS300 bashers..

Acura is also just a honda too.. whats the difference?
a 2000 TL smoke IS300? i wouldnt say 0.2 seconds is called smoking. Besides, TL is a bigger sedan offering better comfort in terms of seat rooms.. TL is designed to be a family sedan, whereas IS300 is not.
dont get me wrong, i love the new white TLS with kits, but TL is just not as sporty as IS300 i would still say.. and ya ya ya, you can always say TL with kits looks great.. well, IS300 with kits looks even better..

I love acuras, we have a MDX at home, but really, my mom thinks the RX300 is better and better built quality than the MDX even though both seem to have similar equipments. RX300 does handle that bit better, and the power isnt that much off.. now here is the question, why we still have the MDX? well, because RX300 will have a brand new model change in 1 year or 2 at most.

anyway, i love my IS300, and i like the MDX.. ( even though i still think RX300 handles better. hehe. )

Sorry but as long as your car has 4 doors your car is a family sedan. Live with it. CL-S is a 2 door sport coupe and its not a family sedan
