Should I remove the intake resonator?

Can anyone tell me what will the car gain if I remove the resonator (I currently have a K&N drop-in filter)? What will it lose? Should I remove it?

Thanks,
Steven

Intake resonator is restricting the air-inflow.
Only thing you lose by removing it is some weight.
Althought the power gain is minimum, gain is a gain. It's better than nothing, rite? Besides, you'll get the intake's "hissing" sound.

I highly recommend removing the resonator if you want a little more sound/minimal power gains.. I did it and I love the way the car sounds now, not too loud, just right. Best of all it's free, and you already have the K&N....just do it and if you don't like it for some odd reason you can always put it back in

The reason I asked this is I saw someone who said removing the intake resonator would lose low-end power, is that true?

Thanks,
Steven

Resonator is only there to muffle sounds - kind of like muffler for intake. But because it's there, it does restrict airflow. So, if you remove it:
- air flow will increase (but by a small amount)
- your engine will sound a little louder

I have the K&N drop in filter too. I'm planning on removing the resonator too. We'll see what happens. I don't see how it would cause a loss in your low end torque though.

the risk of getting water in there is minimal, at best....it's basically the same idea as the comptech icebox.
