Should I go back to Petroleum 5W30 oil?

After being a mobil 1 synthetic oil fan, I am wondering if I should be going back to petroleum oil. My initial thot is that with synthetic oil I will not have to change my oil as frequent. Well after 5,000 synthetic miles, my TL is exhibiting the sluggishness it did at the end of its oil cycle. (yep the symptoms includes slow response in acceleration, lower mpg in fuel consumption etc). So is it worth $25 for 4 quarts of synthetic oil or $4.75 of petroleum oil? I am thinking of going back to reqular Quaker State 5W30 since I am not seeing the hyped up benefits?

Thoughts?

I just changed out my Mobil 1 after 6500 miles and the oil was not as dark as my Mercury Villager's oil after just 3000 highway miles. I could have easily kept the Mobil 1 in there for 1000 more miles. Maybe you're not using the correct oil filter. I use the oversized Mobil 1 M1-105 filter. Also, I thought once you go synthetic you can't go back to regular oil. Anyone know?

2001 KCdude Those symtoms are not relevant to the oil in the crankcase. Mobil 1 will pretty much give you zero wear, easy start up in the cold, excellent all weather protection and long life. It will easily go 6K miles. Look at my sig. for proof. I'd have your engine checked out...Vandy yes you can go back if you want, no harm.
