Should I buy a Dealer Car? Need opinions

Just came back from Montclair Acura in NJ. Saw that they had a 03 Anracite TLS with NAVI, web page lists it in there new inventory. Get there and the car turns out to be a dealer car with 4k Miles on it. The car also has a remote starter and aftermakert alarm on, niether of wich I really car about, remote starter is nice I guess. Anyway the sales guy offered 30500 for it, I'm sure I could work it down to like 30100 or so. Thing is the TLS with navi are getting rare, and with anthracite color is even rarer. Checked the car at carfax and it's clean, also checked acura owner site to see if it was included in the 100k tranny warrenty which is was'nt so I guess the tranny is ok...I guess I was wondering if you guess think this is a good price, and if this is a good idea or not?

If it has 4K miles, it's probably a dealer's demo and has never been titled. $30,500 is about $1K less than the usual price for a 03 TLs with NAV. It's still consider new if you buy it and I think the cut off is 5K miles so they probably stop driving it. Does it have anything else? Rear wings, splash guard etc?? 4K miles is a bit high for a demo car and you still should probably get some more off, especially if you absolutely don't care about the aftermarket alarm. You should be able to order a brand new TLs with NAV for about $31,500 so is 4K miles worth $1000?

If its a demo car, Id stay away.

I beat the living piss out of the demo TL-S I test drove, and that thing only had 7 miles on the clock. For the price difference, Id just go with a brand spanking new one.

I agree with Vlam and Mr'Hyde,

The dealer is itching to get rid of it, plus car sales are flat because of the economy and their is a new design for the TL in 2004. Did he tell you that he could not get you your color choice with Nav ?

If you really want that particular car you should be able to do better with the price plus get something off teh price of an extended warranty. Tell him there is another demo that you are looking at and that you will call him back (but do not call) in a couple of days. See what happens

Yea, I think I'm gonna pass on this thing..And look for a new one, if they keep giving me the buisness about how the Type-S with Navi is rare, and they can't meet my price I'll just walk out and keep looking, the weird thing is that just like 3-4 months ago most dealers would do 31600 or so no question on a new TLS w/navi, now they refuse...Sales guy said they have a new TLS with Navi in anthracite being deliverd next month, so I think I'm just gonna try to get that one....I'll offer 31800 (could do few 2-3 hundred better but don't feel like hagling anymore), if they refuse I'm just gonna walk out, I'v been shoping for cars for like 2 months and it's been a real pain, I will say that the acura dealerships I'v been too have been a lot more enjoyable than any of the Infiniti dealerships I'v been too, hence my decission to just get a TLS instead of the G35 not to mention equally equiped the G35 is like 4-5k more. I also like the feel of the TL/CL cockpit better then the G's...Only reason I considered G was the transmission issue, but I betting 03's not covered by 100k tranny warrenty are ok...
