short ram ques.
hey
i was just wondering, since the short ram is located by the engine bay and will be sucking in a little more hot air then a cai at idle will the warm air do any damage to the engine?
does the stock airbox suck in alot of warm air also? and how much advantage over the stock airbox will the aem short ram have?
thanks
mike

hey got3.2, I have just installed the AEM short ram intake 2 weeks ago on my 03TL. (color red) It is my only eng mod so far. I paid $150 for it although you might find it cheaper. I also worry about destroying my eng but when I rmvd the stock intake it has 2 air tubes bringing air in from somewhere....I do notice better gain of speed. Not to mention the deeper sound it makes while driving. My eng temp guage stays the same. I would recommend the short ram intake.

The biggest advantage after replacing the stock airbox is that you no longer have a resornator and no paper filter. There is no magic, just less restrictions and more noise.
Well I always thought the short ram metal intakes did more harm than good. I mean the metal intake pipe will get hotter than anything else compared to the stock plastic box/rubber pipe.
If you ever sit in traffic, it just sucks more hot air from the engine compartment... correct??
The stock box sucks air from the resonator box by the bumper, so wouldnt that be better?
I was thinking of just removing the resonator box and route a pipe to my stock box drop in K&N filter.. what u guys think about that??

BTW the air temperature theory does not make much of a difference when it comes to a very few degress. I can't say there is no difference, but don't think is like WOW or anything like that.
