Question Shipping

Im going to be a future owner of a 02 or 03 tl-s(depending on what time of the year the snow melts up here in ND) I'll have to go to minneapolis to get it(no acura dealership here) and after reading the posts about break-in periods, i realized i cant drive her back. Does anyone know how much it costs to ship a car say 300 miles? Thanx

Yeah, why couldn't you drive it back?? There are people from the midwest that bought CL-S' from Jersey and drove them back. You just have to vary your speed (don't stay at 70mph the whole trip) and not use Cruise Control, other then that, you're fine. I would buy it and drive it back......

And how are you going to do your regular maintenance at the dealer?

If you do get it "shipped" make sure that it's not a drive away service. This is where someone else drives the car to your destination. Most shipping companies are this way. You don't want to turn some stranger loose with your new car. I moved from NC to Colorado and that's what everybody wanted to do. I finally convinced my new company to hire an acutal shipping company. They put the car in a tractor trailer, loaded the trailer on a train. The car arrived only a few additional miles on it's odometer and just a little dusty. Perfect in every other way. I recommend driving it yourself. But, as the other posters have stated, think about where you'll get service and parts.

Acura has been around since 1986? and there have always been new Acuras in Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismark, International Falls, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, etc. Living in ND and SD, you'll just have to drive down to the Twin Cities for major service (not oil changes), 300 miles is really not that far. Don't you need to periodically come back to Minneapolis for supplies and a little of bit of entertainment anyway?

You can have regular maintenence done on any Acura at any Honda dealer and it will not void the warranty. So hopefully he has a Honda dealer nearby and he can go there. Now for actual warranty claims (like something breaks during the 4yr/50,000 mile period), he'll have to make the trek to the Acura dealer.
