Shifting gears - original transmission question

In my 2002 TL-P, if you start from a stop and go WOT, it will run first gear to redline and SURGE into second, and then do the same for second (haven't tried holding it any longer). It's difficult to describe how it feels, but I like it! It kinda presses you back in your seat a little more as it shifts. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

My question is really, though, if the transmission goes out (this is the original), will I lose that feel and have a car that shifts like my 05 AV6? I hate the way it's shifts are completely undetectable. I like to feel some connection, I also feel like if the TL were to shift like that, it would be slower, but that could be my imagination.

Any insight?

Fluid can help with that. If you want a firmer shift, you can change out to Amsoil synthetic.

I did that and now all of my shifts are firmer under hard acceleration. On light throttle it still shifts smooth as butter. (It's my third tranny - with the new computer upgrade).
