the light bulb is problably burnt out...it sucks that you cannnot find the correct one at Canadian Tires or other stores. I got the replacement bulb at Acura dealer for CDN 10...with the "TOSHIBA" socket. The Acura guy told me that the reason why it's so expensive is that it is MADE IN JAPAN for this particular little part.

not hard at all. somebody did a conversion led to it, i believe. unscrew the shift knob then take the trim off and the cover as well. Now you will see a bar of letters and numbers which should be coming off easily. Just PULL. then there is a bulb sitting there. Take that bulb out with you and start hunting it in some store...

Oh Hullow
my shift gate light goes out from time to time ...my temp solution is to hit the shift gate (not too hard) a few times and the light comes back on... try it.. it works lol

No need to unscrew the shift knob. Just pry up the black surround, then the silver cover. Putting the car into SS mode w/ e-brake on might make it easier. Then just lift up on the diffuser to expose the bulb. It's a bit tricky getting the bulb out, so a pair of needle nose pliers and a rag is probably the easiest way to get it out, unless you've got incredibly small fingers.

Shit........ I wish I would have known that. I took the whole center console apart to get underneath the shifter plate, then remove the light housing(1//4 turn thing) and then remove the light only to find it blown, then have to put it all back together to drive the car to get the bulb......... god I'm retarded some times. Well, now I know for next time.
