To shave, or not to shave...
i think it would look real cool, especially opening the door via the door poppers. i believe it costs a lot of $$ since the shop has to weld metal where the door handles are...make sure you really want it before laying out some serious cash.

Normally i dont add my 2 cents when i dont agree with another member's ideas, but I kinda gotta agree with BLEXV6 on this one. If you are going to go to a totally shaved look, that is one thing. Its going to be costly because metal has to be welded in over the existing cut outs for the handles, and then its gotta be sanded carefully to be totally flush, and of course all four doors have to be repainted. An interesting, but costly proposition. HOWEVER, on the other hand I dont see what the real aesthetic gain would be in just replacing the front handles with a set of rears just to eliminate the key hole. Seems like a whole lotta nothing...

Plus this removes the possibility of someone punching your locks to gain entry cause theres no keyhole.

But remember, if you battery dies how on earth are you going to unlock your door
You gotta figure that one out for yourself.

Shaved handles are look great, however as the others said you should shave the moldings and other parts as well. Keep in mind, I have owned 3 cars with shaved handles, (done by 3 different body shops that all promised they would never sink.) no matter how much you spend, or who does it, or how it is welded or moldedthey will definately sink! The longest lasting one was about 8 months. I have been involved in the show car scene for over 5 years now, and have yet to find any solution to this problem. Do some serious research before you destroy your doors! Good luck.
My remote has died on me a couple times and i thanked God for my key holes. What if it dies at night or something and you leave your cell in the car. It is a very likely situation. If this is your daily driver then leave it alone. That's my opinion.

How are you suppose to open the trunk when the battery dies?
If you plan on putting a lot of money into your car and plan to keep it for a while then why not???
Get da Value or Blaze kit then youll be breakin necks
But a tricked out ACURA with no door handles would be hot.

First off it's not that EXPENSIVE, fairly cheap. The technical term for the door popper is "Solenoid" What shaving is for those of you who don't know is taking out the door handles and patching it up, making it look like the door handles were never there in the first place.
Here in California, alot of ricers get there doors shaved, so most body shops do them really well. the correct way to do it is, remove the door handles, weld or bond a piece of metal where the door handles use to be, then cover it up with "bondo", like paste that will turn into metal type thing...this is what auto body shops use to repair your accidents. The metal in the back will prevent it from sinking.
I was thinking about doing this, but i thought it would be to ricy for me.
For the electronic part, alot of people go with AutoLoc www.autoloc.com they do alarms, and aftermarket auto locks and windows and they have kits for shaving door handles.

maybe thats why its not that expensive...here on the east coast, its not really a popular thing to do and i havent really seen it on too many cars. maybe thats why its more expensive on this side of the continent. someone correct me if i'm wrong...
