Service Survey

Greetings. I am an owner of a non modified 2K2 NBP TL Type-S. The only thing that has wipped the smile off my face has been a serious paint blemish on the hood (an irregular clearcoat-possibly paint- flake-off the size of a silver dollar). Ah, and the speeding violation I was awarded just the other day.

Needless to say I find the ride absolutely fabulous. It is not the fastest nor the best lookin', nor the most powerful, nor the most luxurious... Yet, value wise it excells in every category. Honda motorcycles are trully amnazing vehicles. Obviously, they (Honda) infuse their great engineering knowledge into all machinery they produce.

Just got back from Rick Case Acura (Plantation, FL), where I had the 7,500 mile service done. It was the first schedule the car requiered, so I decided to have Acura perform it. For what they did, I feel it is a rip-off. I could have easily done it myself. I did have minor warranty work performed, however, Pass seat, paint, vibration.

At the end... three different people suggested i score them EXCELLENT on a forthcoming survey.

It is so dissapointing to have to be told to do something when you happen to dish out 300% for a job that was performed as it was supposed to be performed.

Not that they don't deserve it... it just irks me.

BTW... is it always so easy to hit a buck-forty with this ride?

Has to be talking Kilometers. Even 135 is insane. Hmmmmmm, do you think this speed helps the tranny?

Next post, my tranny just died and I drive the car like a granny!

Sorry guys, just stirring it up.

Kilometers in Florida??? Thay say top speed on a TL-S is close to 150MPH....not that we should go 150 but it is possible.

Maybe we should not drive at that rate of speed. The car does get there, however, and it does so willingly. This post was more in reference to the dealer service survey and how it pissed me off that they should receive an "excellent" mark when all they are doing is their job... It should be excellent to start off with... the survey should rate the work negatively. If there is a blemish on the report, then the dealer should suffer. If all is good, then... hey... no complaints, right?

Pahleeze, mr. service advisor, for the dough you be pulling from my pants, the job better be excellent. The work better be excellent. The seat where I wait while your excellent work is performed should be excellent. The coffee i may drink should be excellent and the blueberry muffin should be so good that I may be heard exclaiming: "My, this is an excellent experience". If that is how it was, then i'll mark the service survey excellent.

ahhhh... that is it. I am done venting now. thankyouverymuch.

OK.. first, the reply to the thread.... I have never brought either of my Acura's into the dealer for any of the services... I've done them all myself. Now, I knew I was selling the CL, so that's why I didn't bring that car in. The TL-S I will be keeping for a very long while, so I will only be bringing it in for the "major" services.... 30k and 60k. Those are worth the money as a lot gets done. The little ones are a joke and can be done in your driveway. It's good you brought it in to them for the 7500... but do yourself a favor... get the brochure from them which outlines the services and choose only the major ones. The rest you can do yourself and check-off each item as you go!!

As for the speed issue... the TL-S is limited to 149mph. There are people who have said they've gone faster (low 150's), but that is due to speedometer error (usually a couple of % off, especially at those speeds). I personally haven't gone over 110 as there really isn't much room around here to do it. I don't think I'd feel save much over that speed anyway.......

I agree that all service experiences should be excellent. However, the survey isn't only to report problems -- if you're satisfied (not elated, mind you) excellent is your only choice. They word them such that the next lowest rating is akin to "only slightly pissed off" which would be, of course, a slam against the dealer.

Obviously, you shouldn't mark excellent just because they asked you to. However, in Acura survey-speak excellent = satisfied so if you were in fact satisfied, then excellent is the way to go. Anything else is considered a "bad grade".

Also -- their muffins only stay fresh for about half an hour after they're set out, but their coffee machine is pretty good.
