sequential sports shift

why when u use sequential sports shift, it automatically shifts to 2nd and 3rd when u try to redline it? i have driven my friends RSX and it revs to redline and stays there and the feul cuts off. theres no point of SS when it shifts for you. and wut is traction control? and how does it work when i race? where is the button to turn it off? I have a 01 TL

My TL doesn't shift automatically from 2nd to 3rd on SS mode.

Im sure he means it shifts form 1 to 2. 00 tls on shift from 1 to 2 by them selves. 99s Do not have this feature they have to manually shift from 1 to 2 .

I'm sure it has something to do with people blowing their engines up on 1st back in '99, otherwise, Acura won't change that. If manually going from 1st to 2nd is what someone really wants, then click the shifter down to 1 and rev to redline then click to 2nd. Stupid, but works.

I have never heard of anyone blowing up engines on 99 because of first. If you hold any gear for too long you are generating a risk of damage.

Okay I am not sure I have all the answers to your questons elitethug. But if I am wrong the guys will chime in to correct me.
The Traction control switch (TCS) on your car is located to the left side of the sterring wheel on the dash. This is also part of the cruise control master switch. This is a low speed traction control system it helps the car get start-up traction at low speed from 0-20 mph. It applies the brake to the wheel that is spinning. It is on at all times when you turn the car ON. When you push the TCS button the yellow light will come on to alert that the system has been turned OFF. If you turn the car OFF the system will default back to ON the next time you start the car. This just aids the car in geting traction at low speeds & the lightwill flash when it dectects wheel spin. I am not sure about your qustin on the Sport -Shift The car will shift frm 1st to 2nd automaticaly this was changed on the 2000 models & up. The 1999 did not do this I think alot of people were over reving their 1999 cars not sure of the reason of the change.

I don't know where you got your info from but you better check again. That is the purpose of fuel cut-off (safety feature). I have a 99 TL and I can manually shift from 1st to 2nd all the way up to red-line. Too bad the 00+ can't do that.

the point im trying to get to is why put SS when itll still auto shift for u if u dont do it, i mean dont u want it to be like a manual. for my 01 TL when i use SS and floor it to redline, it will auto shift to 2nd. for my friends RSX, i would floor it and it will hit a little pass redline and the fuel will cut off, why is it different?

oh yea..and wut will happen if i turn off traction control? cuz when i floor it in the beginning, it still get wheelspin, kinda like a burnout, i guess the car is too heavy to move, but then will turning off traction control be better when streetracing?

you mean the "debadged" pic right? yah, that was the Hot Import Nights meet!

and also, i kno it sorta sux you can't control when it shifts to second, but when you floor it, it shifts at redline, isnt that what you want when you're racing? y would you want to stay in first gear?

Ok, maybe it won't actually "blow" the engine up, but I'm sure it has something to do with older transmissions that Honda makes. If I'm not mistaken, some older Hondas can only manually shift to 2nd and there's no 1st gear.
