Question Seeking Transmitter and key duplication

Hi to all fellow acura owners,

I recently bought a 2000 tl at a dealer auction. So far Im satisfied with it.
However it only came with 1 set of remote and key.

Should I just go on ebay, dealer or another vendor? Will any 2000 year remote work on my vehicle when properly programmed?

Is there a chip in the key?

Thanks

I believe that any remote will work just as long as you bring it to your local Acura dealer to get it programmed... As far as price id say you could probably find a better deal on E-bay.

Ebay works out pretty well when looking for remotes, but sometimes finding a new remote is difficult. If you go to https://www.keylessride.com they'll sell you a new remote for $60 shipped. You'd still need to get it programmed by the dealer, but usually they'll do that for free if you tell them you only got one remote (in fact, my 00 only came with one master key, a valet key, and a remote - when I asked them about another key and remote, they just gave me another set all programmed for free) or go in for some other service.

The keys do have chips in them (up in the grip part), and any new keys would have to be setup for you car too (another dealer service).
