the secret behind type-s

forgive me for this newbieish question.... but being that the TL-P and the TL-S have the same engine....is it the ECU and other things like upgraded parts and sportier parts and ones that gain HP....is that what the TYPE-S is....somewhat similair to the 3-series with more HP....can someone kind of explain..

Not quite the same engine. Same block, yes, but different heads and internals.

Different cylinder linings, 2 stage intake, different cams, larger throttle body, different ecu tuning, higher rpm redline, higher compression just to name a few

diagnose this problem

THis doesnt seem like a tranny problem but I could be wrong. I have had a few start up problem the past month and a half. THe last two days my car have started up nicely. So I was pretty happy bout it. Well Todaym I was going to go my kick boxing class, I felt my car driving wierd.

Symptom 1. All the gears shifts thru smoothly but once I brake and the RPM level goes between 2k and 1 K there is a slight jerk. I try petal to the metal to see how my car would react. Nothing...everything drives fine. Just like how it was for the past 5 years. Then once I brakek and the gears kick down to around once again 2-1K it jerks slightly. The rpm jumps around in the 1-2.2range. I tried both auto and SS. it does the same in both. But when I tried with SS I left the RPM a little higher no lower then 2.5 and it was fine no jerk or jumps on the RPM.

Symptom 2. after driving, I put my car in park. Then it will start to rev by itself, from 1 to 3K and consistent too.

WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!! I hope its not a pre sign of a slip tranny. Well I put the car in reverse and it was fine, NOTHING AT ALL. IT was smooth. ANy ideas. I jsut installed new headers bout 2-3 weeks ago. My car was revving by itself the first day after I install my header but it hsant done it ever since. The car does not rev by itself when I first start up the car. ITs will start doing that after I drive it, doesnt matter how far. PLEASE let me know!!

The type-s is hardly just a TL-P with some "sporty mods" slapped on. It's a whole different beast with the upgrades listed above that bump up the horsepower substantially. It's more akin to the difference between the bimmer 330 and 325 rather than the 330 and the 330 with the "sport package".
