Merlyn,

Are you sure its a secondary exhaust you're talking about?

The only times you ever see flames shoot from an exhaust are for high boost turbo'd cars. Mostly race spec. Some BPU Supra's and RX-7's will shoot flames out of their exhaust when they run race fuel, or when they run a test pipe instead of their catalytic converter. Reason being is that because when a test pipe is used, there is a lot of unburnt fuel in the exhaust and with all the heat and pressure in the exhaust stream sometimes it ignites. It happens when they get off the throttle after they've been on it real hard. Like between shift's you'll see a quick flame shoot out the back.

On the dyno you have to becareful of this, because as the car spools down from a run, the flame can shoot out a good 3 feet or so for a sustained amount of time... some 5 seconds even.

Tip: don't stand behind a Supra or RX-7 on a dyno.

I think i'd be an awesome little thing to have when you're racing some guy...so he gets scared...or just so you feel cool. It doesn't have to stay on..it's mainly like you hit a switch or you trottle the car all the way, and you get flames. It's an awesome touch. Anyone have info?

Say, you're at a light and then you go. If you shot flames and the flames actually damaged the paint of the car behind you, wouldn't you get in trouble for that? Assuming that they got your plate number or a cop saw you?

the car behind you first of all wouldn't be there for more than like .5 seconds. And these flames are acutally caused by a secondary ignition because there is a "spark plug" sort of thing that you put into your tip of the exaust...and it lights the gas escaping. You can also get flames w/ test pipes..but this is the cheaper. I'm gonna try it out on my type-r when i get it. Or on my friends f-150. Therefore..if everything goes the way it is planned...within about a month i should be reporting.
