SeaFoam-2000 Acura TL??
SeaFoam-2000 Acura TL??
Hello everyone;
Finally my 15 days are over now I can finally post my questions. After buying my 2000 Acura TL, I found this site and have read a lot of threads about SeaFoam. So I bought 3 cans of seafoam and want to do the treatment soon since an oil change is due soon.
Can anyone post a picture or something that I can know where the vac line is on these cars, I don't want to pull the coolant one by accident. Or if theres a thread already that shows you where the vac line is, please site it.
Also if someone can tell me the amount that I should put in through the vac line, gas tank and also the crankcase?
If anyone can help, thx in advance

thats close but not exactly right
1.5 oz per qt engine oil- drive 30 minutes to 200 miles and change when warm
for the best diy --see the one titled `diy seafoam specifically for 03`-
diy master list here https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/new-official-2nd-gen-tl-diy-thread-706083/
only the actual direction the master vac port at TB points varies slightly between years
same hose with squeeze type clamp on it--thats the TB vac port
1 can in just under half tank gas,, twice
1/2 can manifold vac port
final 1/2 can in oil right before change

thx guys, I did the seafoam treatment today and I guess it went great, crazy white smoke came out...
The one thing is that now the fans go on every once in a while, before I never heard my fan go on once, is this a sign of something or is it ok.?

I didnt drain any oil before adding it to the crankcase, i read a lot of threads and didnt read anything about draining oil....
but you have to do an oil and filter change after doing the seafoam, 30-100 kms driving

congrats! smoke means you had good heat in the cat and the entire process went well
no need to drain any oil--plenty of room in the crankcase for 8 ounces of seafoam
a good 30 minute drive makes it work best
MUST do 15 minute warmup drive if cold before change,,,the crud reforms solid and sits,,get it hot and it drains right out
noobs to seafoam should repeat gas and or vac port in a month or so,,a week or 2 months..its all good
the intent is a final clean of the parts,,you got most of it out the first time, now finish the job
midyear 5-7500kmiles, throw a can in half-to full gas tank as `maitenance dose`
remember the TB air plate is a seperate cleaning job

If not removing TB can I just do a quick clean with some deep creep?? I have an outlaw thermal spacer and gasket set coming so I'll give a more thorough cleaning while it's off. While doing seafoam I figure I'll clean as much as I can today.
dave--dont do the TB now,,when its off for the other install is fine
others: DO clean the oft forgotten TB air plate
the PCV pumps oily crud at it every minute the engine is running
Seafoam aerosol/deep creep cleans AND leaves behind a needed lubricant in the air plate hinge pin
everyone/high mile cars- replace or clean the PCV valve 10$
its in the pcv line between valve cover and TB
should sound like a spray paint can when clean--shaker ball inside
