Scrub, scrub,scrub

My left front tire makes a scrubbing noise when I am backing up. My car has 27,000 miles on it now but it has been doing it since about 12,000 miles. I finally remembered to have the dealer look at it and they told me that the brake pads were wearing and that it was time for me to consider new brakes. Does this sound correct????

Brake pads are considered wear and tear items. Although it seems premature for the pads to wear out on your 01, my recommendation is to have the dealer pay 1/2 and you fork out the other 1/2. Also get the assuarance that if the sound comes back, he (dealer) reimburse your cost of the pads because it was unnecessary to replace them.
I say that because the pads will let out a 'squeal' sound instead of a 'scrub' sound

27000 miles isnt horrible for brake pads its a little early but no big deal, the scrub sound worries me, if its a metal on metal scrub sound change your pads now if not you will damage your rotors and have to replace the whole thing, this i learned the hard way

I don't like my dealer here. They are idiots. The next closiest dealer is 200 miles away. I had a problem last year with my climate control system, the numbers were changing on there own, and they told me it wasn't a problem and that I must be doing something wrong.

If you can replicate the problem, the dealer will have to deal with it. Saying it is your problem is not solving your problem. So take it to the next level, call your Acura Customer service @ 800-382-2238. Explain that the dealer did not perform your issues and concerns let alone performed it to your satisfaction. Acura is committed to excellent customer service and your dealer is obliged to comply. Continue to document the conversations and date and time it as it happens. Pretty soon the dealer will give in because Acura will hound them till they fixed your problem. The dealer will understand it is more painful for them when you are a prick (as in needle point, not jerk) in their pants. Good Luck Start documenting...
