Unhappy Scratches

I have a small area on the top of my trunk where there are several scatches. After washing my car today I applied Meguiars scratch X. All it did was remove the wax. Now that I think about it how could a product like this fix a scratch without applying any new paint. I don't trust any body shop, so would the dealer touch it up? Any other suggestions?

Try a glaze wax....that should fill in the scratches, providing they are fine enough to not be thru the paint or clearcoat..

What brand of glaze wax should i use? What is the difference between glaze wax and regular wax? BTW i want to use this wheel cleaner but it says its not safe for use on uncoated aluminum? Are our stock rims uncoated aluminum?

A glaze wax is different than Canauba wax...The glaze wax covers up any minor scratches. A carnauba wax protects the paint from the elements. As for the rims, there really isn't much you can do. You should use a metal polish like "Mother's"..it's good stuff. BUT, the problem is the wheels are covered with clearcoat, and there's no sense in polishing the clearcoat with metal polish. It doesn't do anything..

You can try using car polish or wax on the rims, not sure how much that would do, but to answer ur question, our wheels are coated.

I am a big fan of Meguiars and I was wondering which of their waxes are glaze waxes. I currently use the gold glass wax, but it diddn't fix the scratches. I wanted to know about our wheels beacuse I want to get there hose off rim cleaner.

Here is their waxes

Glazes do a good job in hiding minor scratches. (keyword *hiding*) 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze works wonders. It removes minor scratches and imperfections from the paint. Check with your local 3M offce for a retailer in your area. Believe me, this stuff rocks!
BTW - if you scratch is fairly deep, you may need to wet sand with 1500-2000 grit.
