Question Sanding headlights question

Hey guys I've baked my headlights and gotten them apart and sanded with 100 grit paper but the corners are so hard to sand just wondering if there's a technique that works best for sanding the corner lens
or could I possibly use some paint stripper to get the chrome off
I'm having trouble with the lil lines on the corner

No special technique when I did it, just gotta fold the sandpaper and be careful. And I'm guessing you meant 1000 grit and not 100 grit, right?

^ That's what I was thinking...100 is definitely not enough...

I'd actually go up to 2000 grit before buffing.

i used 100, then 240, then 1000.

100 should strip out whatever chrome you see. try scrubbing harder, it should take it off. i just finished blacking out my headlight housings. if you can't get the sandpaper into tight places , hold the sandpaper with a tweezer. that's what i did.

but don't stress too much, the paint will still stick even with some chrome on the corners.

naw man.. you dont need EVERY milimeter of chrome off .. in fact .. most corners i barely even got (the hard to reach spots) ... as long as you primered , you're fine . give yourself a break .

100 > 250 > 1000

2 coats of primer , wait 45 mins after each coat , wetsanding after each coat

then black paint .. 3 coats

then clearcoat .. 3 coats

you'll be fine

basically dip the sandpaper into water and sand . just make sure the surface you are sanding is constantly wet . it's really not a big deal haha . sometimes i'll just dry sand if im lazy .

wetsanding is just to remove the small little imperfections like bumps and drizzles

Like stated above, you don't need to get all of the chrome off. And learn how to be patient

Patience is the key for this project. I didnt black out my corner lights, but the crevice that goes around the high beams was hard for me to sand, and all of the chrome didnt come out of there....As stated above, all of it doesnt have to come off, but get off as much as you can.
Good luck.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Yeah, those coats sound good...No, you only need 10-15 mins between paint and clear coats...I put mine on a rack from a file cabinet to paint them, but make sure you find something easily portable, and once painted bring them in for the night and leave them as is for 20-24 hours to COMPLETELY cure.
