When launched right, S2K would smoke TLS..... when launch normally(drop clutch under 3K), it's close race....

How come MSN carpoint stats S2000 0-60mph is 6.7 sec. and TL-S is 6.9 sec. I believe both stats are WRONG. I know a S2000 runs a mid or high 5.0's and TL-S is in the low 6.3sec. Does anyone know the real stats and numbers?

s2000

I dont know the times off hand but I can say before I got my TL I had a s2000, and no matter how the thing launched or in what gear I can tell you it will house a TL.

I think the S2000 would smoke a TL-S, but as a TL-S owner I'll give it a try.

I raced a S2000 once when I first bought my car. We were sitting at the light but I wasnt too sure he wanted to race. When the light hit green he took off so I did too. Off the line he did burn me but that was also because I didnt want to redline on my new car. But I did burn him in the long run! TL-S btw...

Think so . . . one of our Dallas area guys got beat in the 1/4 down in Ennis by a CLS. Well the S2K did have a bad launch, but still he lost.

So never say never.

I owned a 2000 S2000 and a 2001 S2000 before my TLs and I regularly dragged and tracked them both.

the S2000 is very hard to launch and I would hit 14.7's with it all the time at the track. This is in the TLS realm which will hit its number most the time due to torque. The S2000 has a VERY slow 5-60... I would say the TLS is a faster car in mid gears or at least even. The S2000 can pull a 14.0 quarter every once in a while.

Thats all strait line performance, the S2000 spanks it unheedingly on a track.

My friend (who also works with me) and I are always racing and playing around. He might not launch at 6K RPM (sounds scary), so I always take him off the line, and I am able to stay ahead of him. After he's rolling, he's not afraid to redline it, either.

y2ks2k, you're familiar with highway 14 eastbound, merging onto I-205 north? When you go up, over 14, under 205, and curve back up to merge? I cruise around that at 80, and he isn't comfortable enough to follow me that close, .... yet. Give him a little time and he'll be ahead of me.
y2ks2k, you going to the West Coast meet in Medford the last weekend of September?

Im sure he was because it was a long stetch with empty cars besides if he did quit we barely got any distance in it. Maybe, maybe not?

haahaah! I travel that every day and practice my cornering on that every single time unless I have a car in front of me. I cant tell you how many people try riding me into thos corners and end up far behind as I merge onto I-205 by the Mill Plain exit

Probably won’t go to the meet Don’t know why but meets in my TL have never sounded too interesting.

haha 80 is pretty fun, and the tires aren't even screaming at me, yet. I think if I got bigger sway bars (Nuespeed Race in the rear?), I could take it at 100.:wow: It's friggin fun!

As for the meet, there are about 20 or so people coming up from the Bay Area and Sac Town, and some driving down from Seattle/BC. Might be some eye candy...

Last weekend, ClubLexus had a meet in Deal's Gap, N.C to tackle the DRAGON! A new 996 4WS, Acura NSX and Honda S2000 came too. The S2000 is no focking joke, after being around it for the weekend it is a HELLUVA CAR and you DO have to rev the crap outta it to whoop arse....

S2000 > any TL-S....

Forget about it in the twisties, car is awesome!

I beat the driver of an S2000 once. I was able to get ahead at the start, and I could see his car loose ground every time he shifted.

I have a 2000 TL-P with only intake and exhaust and stayed dead even with one until 70 when we caught up to traffic.

sorry to be so rude...my car was hit yesterday and i'm not in a good mood...

but honestly...do u really think our car can take on s2000? i mean if the driver of s2000 didn't know how to drive manual too well...we might have a pretty good chance. otherwise s2000 can smoke a TL... they probably don't even need to power shift thru every gear either.

I have driven an S2000 and have too say that its a quick car. You can't even compare a S2000 and a TLS. Maybee a M coupe are a M series Z3. The S2000 even came ahead of Boxer and M series Z3 in track tests. Think....What do you have to do to a TLS to ever squeeze a 14.0??? With 240 in such a small 4 cyl it flies.

BlueXTC man sorry to hear about your car. No I think in the quarter the 2000 would win but my race was dead even and I could easily hear his engine winding up to redline and then shifting. I even bounced of the rev limiter trying to beat him but stayed even. Hope your car comes out OK. What happened?
