Is it possible to have your car rust under the clear coat? I was looking at my car today and thought I had a speck of dirt on my car and tried to remove it using quick detailer and it wouldnt budge. I ran my finger over it felt nothing, smooth as the rest of the car but there is definately something under the clear coat and it appears to be rust. Car bought new in Sept of '03 no accidents or repaints...Is this possible..could my car have rust under the clear coat?

 

same here..i have spots the size of a period and they appear to be rust..i cant get them off with a clay bar...weird...

 

Yeah the one i found is now the size of a pencil lead. Will it get worse? Should i take it in and complain? Anything they can do?

 

they can/should be able to be removed wiuth a little buffing with some fine cut cleaner or something like scratchx, its most likely a surface contaminant

 

Yeah I have those, and Mother's Polish seems to get them off. If not try dabbing a towel with some gasoline and that will take it right off. And no u dont have to use Premium gasoline.

Whats rail dust? What mine looks like is a rust spot thats under the clear? How is any of this gonna fix something thats under the clear?

 

Rail dust is when they ship our cars on rails, it leaves little brown marks/rust-like substance on our paint. Its a blemish which claybaring should take care off..

 

most likely if it were under the clear it would be a bigger spot than just a dot, that and the surface of the paint/clear would be risen up a littel bit. try using some real fine cut type polish/cleaner and see if it removes them. it should
