Three Wheelin'
Mobil 1, Amsoil, R.Purple and Redline are some of the best synthetics available. If you use the right type, say like 5W-30 your engine will experience nearly zero wear. Change it every 5,000 to 6,000 miles and you'll be OK.

I switched to redline on my first oil change...which was about 4000 something miles...I haven't ran anything since so I can't say objectively. My friend who has been running whatever acura puts into his car for like 37,000 miles now and just recently switched to redline and says his car runs great. Says it shifts much better, smoother and feels more powerful. But that too is not prone to accuracy because he had his plugs switched out and the change in oil could have attributed to it the first time because it's something new, it's like pouring new gas brand after you had previously used the same gas brand over and over. It's hard to say. Redline is easier for me to get and also since Acura used it in SCAA, I figured why not...can't go wrong. Also I'll be using the Redline WaterWetter soon so I didn't want to mix brands too much.

Do a search on Roadrage, he has done some excellent reviews for us on oil types.
That said, the latest oil drain tests indicated that the new Amsoil synthetic (can't recall name) tested as best. But other leading synthetics are note that far behind. Also, Mobil 1 has a new improved synthetic and it was not included in the test, at least I think that was the case.
BTW - I use a mix of 1Qt Mobil 1 0-30 with 4Qts of 5-30. For the winter I'll probably go to 2Qts of 0-30.

Aren't '02 and up TLs, the manufacturer recommends 5w-20? As far as I know Mobil 1 don't have that grade. I'm thinking about Amsoil right now, but they don't have an oil filter for my car. What do you guys suggest?

but your engine will pay the price with less protection.
Car manufacturers are being pressured to reduce emissions...
So... 5W20 flows a little better ( less work done by the engine) therefore reducing emissions by gaining a HAIR in gas mileage.... IMO.. thats crap... because the people that pressure the car manufacturers wont be there to pay your repair bills when your engine rings and seals dies...

As for your filter get a K&N or a Mobil1

Royal Purple actually causes more wear than any oil in tests.

just use redline.
royal purple is a joke.
using 5w-30 in an engine that specifies 5w-20 will not hurt it, only provide more protection. 5w-30 IMO is too thin/has more additives/breaks down more.
you can use 10W30 for the best protection (less additives/less viscosity breakdown, etc...).
Amsoil does make an oil filter for your car, it is made by hastings.
TL V6-196 (3.2L) PFI VTEC 24 Valve
LF523 or SDF20
but i wouldn't waste the money, i would just get a mobil 1 or stp filter. they are made of the same synthetic fibers, but one just costs more.
