Rougher Idling follow up at the dealer

So I brought my car to the dealer because of rough idling. They claim they hooked it up to the "ECM" and no reports of anything malfunctioning came back. Then this dumb ass service consultant comes up to me and asks what Octane of gas i'm using....so I tell him the highest one which is 91. He says..."oh no you shouldn't be using the highest one in these engines, only use 87". I didn't think much of this guy before he said this, and this pretty much settled everything when he said this too me.

Anyways, I spoke to another service advisor who seemed to know a lot more about cars. He said that "Esso" gas has caused a lot of problems in their TL's and they always recommend you use the Sunoco 94 Octant gas, which will clear up all the carbon build up in the fuel system. I also purchased a bottle of Red Line Fuel Injection Treatment which I heard works wonders on these cars.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cure this rough idling?

No it sounds like your second opinion matches with what we all posted here for you. Did you try the FI cleaner before you wasted your time at the dealer?

I've been using sunoco 94 from the start and have had no problems... TL's due to high compression do not start up nicely...but once running "she purrs like a kitten" when idle.

I use Esso 92. So far it runs great. I don't find any difference using 94 or 92. So I switched to 92. Why pay more for no detectable difference?

Today I got my car back from the dealer...so I filled up with Sunoco 94 and added redline fuel injector treatment to the tank.

Hopefully that helps with my idling issues.
