Rough idle after tranny replacement

Tranny (#2) replaced 3 weeks ago at 34K. Now when the car is in drive, it idles kind of hard with my foot on the brake. Not so much in neutral or park. Any ideas? Dealer said bring it in but I'm just wondering what it could be.

Need to do idle-learn procedure

Your problem is that the dealer did not perform the idle-learn procedure after reconnecting the battery. See, replacing the tranny requires that the battery be disconnected, and this erases all idle settings from the ECU.

Just do this: let the car idle in park for about 10 minutes, and you should be all set. This worked for me. Your dealer should have done it (it's actually on the list of steps they should follow), but it's easy enough for you to do at this point.

You should not have to. I actually just checked one of Acura's TSBs on the issue, and it says the following:

1. All accessories must be off (lights, radio, A/C, rear defogger)
2. Engine must be at operating temperature

and

3. The engine should be allowed to idle for 10 minutes
