Road Trip Report: CT to Toronto to CT
WHAT A GREAT CAR!
I did my quick 2 day trip to Toronto in the TL-S, and it was PURE JOY! Just me, the 262HP (I have the exhaust) , and the law enforcement officers of NY and MA. Let me tell you, they were out there big time. I went through more radar and laser than I would have ever thought. My Valentine was my saviour, as I made the round trip unscathed.
On the way out, about 230 miles from Buffalo, a Black TL-S pulled up along side and we ran together for about 20 miles, running between 80 and 90 MPH. This was the only TL-S I saw on the way there. I did pass a WRX, but he was just puttering along.
In Toronto (area), I saw many 4 door Acura 1.6 EL's !!!! These must be Civics, as I never even knew they existed. I failed to find a TL at all!!
On the way back, I passed a new, silver TL-S that was being ferried (I think), as the car still had the sticker in the window and the driver was no pushing it at all. If someone is getting this car, you'll be glad to know they were not beating it! (I passed it just east of Buffalo, heading east)
The car was fantastic, fast when I needed it, steady, solid. The springs were not a factor in comfort on the long haul, and the droning of the exhaust was not bad at all.
I made it from Eastern CT to Niagra Falls on one tank (about 438 miles), and the light was not even on yet!!!
The Navi: what a great option (sorry Steveb). Even though I knew where I was going, it was great to zoom out to show the entire state of NY and watch my progress across the state, and have it display the time and miles to the border at Niagra Falls. I felt like I was running blind when I crossed the border and the Navi went away! I cannot understand why they don't have the main roads of Canada in there. I know I would have loved it while I was in downtown Toronto. I kept looking at my screen, and there was nothing there!
Thanks to SLickTLS for volunteering to show me around. Unfortunatly, I was there for a customer, then was "out-of-there", so I had no spare time. Maybe when there is a meet?
Anyway, all of you TL-S guys & gals, TAKE YOUR CAR FOR A LONG RIDE!!! It is GREAT! Get away from the traffic and old farts and get on an open highway!! You will un-stress yourself and smile the whole time! Get sone good tunes and cruise!
Really....
Go now

Welcome back Jon. I'm glad you had a great and ticket-free trip. I totally understand where you are coming from. I took my TL on a 3000 mile round trip (NJ-FL-NJ) and the ride was beyond words. It is so smooth and quiet. I would also recommend taking your TL or TL-S out for a long road trip.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the trip to YYZ.
The ELs are indeed Acura. They're made for the Canadian market only. See www.acura.ca for more info.

The reason you couldn't find Canadian streets on your system is that Navi is not an option available in Canada, unfortunately. Us poor old Canucks lose out (as do those who visit Canada) because apparently Honda decided there was not enough potential demand! The TL-S is a great car but Navi is not an option here. It should be!!!

I've been taking the long way home from work and random back roads on purpose - and I found a great road about 15-20 miles long for a TLS in Connecticut.
Take Rt. 2 to Rt. 11 South. When Rt. 11 ends, take a right and then take your first left next to the ren barn/ice cream store. Go straight 15-20 miles - simply one of the best and most scenic twisting backroads I've ever driven!
The TLS loved it...

Xorg. I know EXACTLY where that road starts (near the Ice Cream Barn!). I will have to check it out next time I go to New London.
THANKS!!!

My pleasure - maybe we should start a "Best Roads" topic?
The road gets better as you go along, the best parts are towards the end. Be careful, you can do between 40-60mph, but the curves are wicked in some places :-)
The road names are: Darling to Grundy to Grassy Hill, you'll pop out on Route 1 and take a left or right to get to I-95.
