RL history
okay, I know this might not be the place to do it, but I wanna ask for some of you to spread some knowledge that I know ya got... I was wondering if with the RL there is a year Acura made good strides with it, and therefore it is worth the money to try and buy that year and above. (kind of like with STS's and lexus's getting much much better around 98-99) When did navi first go in, and has it been upgraded, is the first navi old tech now, did any other options get added at any point, etc?
I appreciate the patience/help of you guys

NAVI was an option from the beginning ('96) although it was a HDD then. I believe it went to a DVD based system the same year that the TL did ('00). Up until '02, it's always been a 210HP engine. '02s have 225hp.
Not much has changed through the years.

yep, you best bet is getting a 2000 RL. Very refined. IMO
My dad has a 99, and only complaint is the HD Navi...

RL was technically the legend replacement -- so imho strides weren't made... the legend is beautiful -- i'd take alower mileage used one over an rl anyday
but the RL's are nice too

In 2000 they added HID's restyled the front and back some and the only option is NAV. They added some more lacquered up wood too oh and wheel covers changed.
2002 has a whopping 225 hp now!
If your in the witness protection program, it's a GREAT car cause no one will notice it.

Wheel covers? They all had rims, not hubs.
The RL is a great car, just isnt worth 45k. I think its better than the TL, just needs a bigger engine.

ES 300 is for cushy comfort (that is why it has been selling over 5k copies ugly or not) and people RECOGNIZE it's reputation.
So ES 300 is not for you (or me for the matter) but say "Oh it only has 210 hp".
WHY IN THE HECK WOULD ANYBODY WANT A 290 hp ES 300??????????

So why do you knock the RL with 225hp and defend the ES300 with 210hp? Can Lexus do no wrong?
