Is ripped leather covered by warranty?

I had people in the back seat last night comming from a pool hall and I decided to take a freeway on ramp a little fast. I didnt know this at the time, but the person in the back wasnt holding on the "oh $hit" handles or wearing a setbelt so when i entered the turn, his entire weight rested on the back armrest popping it off the joints. Problem is the bolt holding the armrest in place ripped the leather apart in 2 places each measuring about 2 inches in length. Does anyone know if ripped leather caused by armrest failure be covered under warranty? If not, whats the best solution to my scenario other than manually sewing it back together myself? I curse the sways for making me turn too tight!

Thumbs down

I had the very same problem. The seat back leather ripped from the armrest assy popping out of it's mount. I was leaning on it when installing a child seat.

The seat back was replaced under warranty. Part cost was about $750. They just bent the mount back in place. I keep it in the up position now.

Serial #XX10XX, built Feb 2001
