Resurface Rotors, or buy new?
Beleive it or not, my rotors are warped . . .
Anyway, I have the car for sale right now and I don't want to funnel a bunch of money into it right now; however, I need the car to drive better that it does.
I know Checker will turn my rotors for $10/each . . . is this the best option for me right now? How good of a job do they do?
Also, are these rotors (99TL) pressed on, or can I just unbolt them . . . my old accord had pressed-on rotors, but I think the TLs are removable.
Thanks

TLs rotors are removable. If you are going to sell the car, just turn them. That should make the car drive better for a few thousand miles for you to sell it. If you think you might keep the car, don't bother turning the rotors. Switch them out for some upgraded after markets (rotora, brembo..etc..)

How do I Take them off?
So, how do I remove them? Is it as simple as removing the calipers and taking out the two phillips head screws on each rotor?

I have air tools, but not the screwdriver. My bro is on the way with the tool I need.
But, what about the damned stripped screw I've got? Do I have to drill it out?

To be honest, I don't really think they are functional. I'd just drill them off and dremel them flush and just not use them again. That is, unless you really want to use a set of taps and get them out.

I think you've gotta good point . . . the more I thought about the problem, the less I care about getting them out in one piece.
That means: tomorrow I become Demolition Man.
Thanks for the tips, guys.

are you sure nick? I thought that solid (unvented) rotors could not be turned on a lathe? That is what I have been told by a few people, but never bothered to check in depth. I did take it to the dealership and they said they could not turn the rears, so they resurfaced them at no charge since it was right after I bought the car (certified used)

i believe nick work for Acura, he is a tech. so im sure he knows what he is talking about.
Turning oem will cost you enough to consider getting totally new aftermarket rotors, which is your best bet.

So, does this mean I can remove my rear rotors and have them turned? I just had the fronts turned, put them back on, and I'm still getting a considerable amount of shaking in the pedals and steering wheel. Does this mean the rears are warped, or do I have a bigger problem?
In the end, can I remove the rears and have them turned too, or do I have to take it to a place and have them turned while still on the car??
Thanks

i can bet that you didnt get new pads? if your fronts were fine than you steering wheel wouldnt shake.
I just recommend getting new 4 rotors...ride out the warranty for free turning, and then just get aftermarket.....even if you turn stock, on hard braking the disc will get heated, and the brake pad will cause visible damage to the rotors, causing warping.
if its free to you, For now get all four turned, and dont forget that you must put on new pads.
g00d luck.

No, I didnt put new pads on because I put new ceramic pads on last year . . . if my rotors have been warped, will it damage my pads, too? Does this mean that my pads are now the problem and not the rotors?

well, this is how warping happends...Your rotors heat up excessively due to hard braking at highspeeds, and your pads are the ones that are shaping the rotors at that instant..if your pads are not even or smooth, they will imprint the rotors, so if the pad is bad, it will transform that to the rotor, which causes warping, since now your rotor is not smooth & even, or have visible scrapes on them..
You need to change the pads, this way you have two smooth surfaces pressing against each other...also it may be you alignemnt, wheel balance, or tire pressure.

Sh*t.
Thanks for the help . . . back to the drawing board. I'll throw new pads on there Monday. I don't think the car is properly aligned, either, so maybe I'll have that done, too.
Thanks.

no problem!
(Acura will rip you off badly to install new pads, I hope you have your own mechanic, just buy the pads yourself from Acura or go aftermarket)
take care.

Yeah, I can do the work myself. I guess if I go cheap, I can get front pads at AZ for about $30 . . . like I said, I'm selling it and there's no sense in me throwing on a big brake kit at this point.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
