resetting warning lights
Hey all, my brake light warning is on. Both lights work. Can someone remind me of the trick to reset the idiot lights... I searched the board and couldn't find it. Thanks.

The only way to reset the Brake warning light IS TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
Make sure that the e-brake is completely disengaged. If it is, then there's something wrong with your brakes, not your lights.
On second thought, are you referring to the tail lamp indicator on the little diagram of the car?
If so, there is no way to rest that either. Even if it seems as though the brake lights work, you may have a bulb that is partially burnt out. In other words, when you turn on your lights, do both tails light up at the same intensity? It may be subtle and hard to notice.

Geez I have to read the manual more. I didn't even know there was a light to tell you about a bad brake light.
If it's the "normal" brake dash light make sure you have brake fluid.

Yeah, there was a bad one, and I replaced it. The warning indicator was fine for awhile, but now it's on again. All lights come on when I apply the brake. I'll have to look closer for the intensity. What I was asking for is the reset that I used when the "maintenance" lights came on after 7500 miles (or whatever number). There was a trick like turn the key halfway and hold the 'select' and 'reset' buttons for the trip odometer. Anyone?

tried that
Well I must have a bigger problem then. I did that, and something beeped and the temp guage started flipping around, but my brake light indicator was still on. I'll have to inspect the tail lights more carefully. Thanks

What was happening is you were adjusting the outside temp gauge.
Just a clarification. The procedure you mention resets the "maintenance required" light. Not any other light.
The manual specifically states how to reset that light. The ability does not exist to reset any of the other lights.

I can't get to my manual now to verify this, but I know for a fact that this was the case with my previous Acura (a Vigor) and I would assume that it hasn't changed with the TL.

I believe the word "lamp" or "taillamp" will light underneath/behind the picture of the car if a bulb is burned out. The "trunk ajar" light actually appears on the car where the trunk is.

I just assumed it was the same as my old car.
Thanks.
