Resetting my ECU...

Just installed CT headers last week and started driving the car around...didn't really notice a difference but I remember hearing something about having to reset the ECU...is this true and if so all I have to do is just take the negative terminal off the battery????

The power gained by the CT headers is more "subtle" than many care to admit... i have the TypeS and I didn't feel much gains after installing them.. sure, alittle more juice up top, but nothing huge like people claimed. However, I DID notice the difference on the dragstrip .. headers and intake dropped my ET by 0.6 seconds... not too shabby ...

Resetting the ECU is absolutely useless in this application, don't bother. Your ECU is always readjusting to airflow, etc.

But to answer your question, yes, just take the negative terminal off the battery -- leave it off for five minutes, and put it back on. Make sure you have your radio code handy ..

I believe another way is to pull the fuse and hold the brake pedal down. Just do not start the car! Someone will need to second this.

Yes...
And I sort of agree with Peter, but I will say the header dyno for the TL-P I remember seeing on the CT website was about 15hp shy of gains of the TL-S.

resetting the ecu has worked for me before. Just the other day i was barely able to come off the line hard. I pulled the fuse and ran the car hard. The next day the car left a patch when i gunned it and the weather was warmer

has anyone heard, that after replacing the tranny in the 03tl-s that the dealer reprogrammes the ecu to de-tune it so your tl-s will pump out less horsepower, thus putting less strain on the new tranny, thus not frying the new tranny.if this is so, do u thing resetting the ecu will give me back the 260hp this car should have?? mine went @ 9000miles and doesn't feel like i have the same power?? someone please help.

I agree with Peter in that resetting the ECU is usless as it is alway readjusting. Wash you car and don't waste your time on pulling the fuse or battery cable.

Yes, the car is always adjusting, but unplugging the battery for a couple hours will reset the ecu and make everything adjust faster. Basically you skip that whole break in period.
