Resetting ECU on TL-S with Navi

I want to reset my ECU. I'd rather not disconnect/reconnect the battery because I don't know if the radio and navi codes I have (I'm the second owner) are right. I searched and found posts that say to reset the #13 fuse on the passenger side fuse box, which should be the clock backup fuse. Well, on navi-equipped TLs, there is no separate clock, so I'm wondering if the #13 fuse is still the right one to reset the ECU. I pulled the fuse anyway, left it out for 10 minutes and took my TL-S for a spirited drive, hitting redline a couple of times in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. The clock on the navi didn't reset, so I'm wondering if I really did reset the ECU.

Where did you find the codes- radio 5 digit , nav 4
often written on side of glovebox door and under fuse panel cover
My 01 with nav only uses the 5 digit radio and all is well

To the best of my knowledge-
the only way to fully reset the ECU is battery disconnect

If they dont work- its ok- you get behind the radio with a mirror or pull the radio and get its serial number- take that to Acura and they can look up your code no charge

I got the radio and navi codes from the owners manual that was with the car when I bought it. I have no idea if they're valid. Is there a way to test if the codes are valid before you disconnect the battery? I would hate to disconnect the battery only to find out that the codes don't work and the dealer or AcuraCare aren't available, especially going into a weekend.

Well did you open the cover to look at the label to see? According to the manual #13 is still "clock backup" ??

And 01tl4tl yes, removing the clock backup fuse is another way to do it so that you dont loose your navi and radio coded. It states to do that in the Helms manual

01tl4tl is right about the codes. Just look under the hood and underneath the fuse box cover. There will be two sets of numbers printed on thin sticker strips - one for the radio the other for the nav. I had a similar issue, and this is what the dealer instructed me to do as opposed to brining the car in for a $95 code search. Other's are right as well as you can obtain the nav serial numbers using a mirror and looking at the back side of the nav unit that is mounted in the trunk.

In the owner's manual it does shows that #13 is "clock backup". I should have looked at both diagrams of the interior fuse panels - the ECU fuse is #6 on the driver's side.

I'll pull that fuse for 10 mins. as soon as the weather gets better. It's been raining all day, so I don't want to go out for a bit of aggressive driving in poor conditions.

If you do certain mods that change intake or other engine operating parameters you need to reset the Engine/Electronic Control Unit

Possible wrong info disclaimer*****
It learns your driving style and sets how the engine runs- possibly the trans shift points too
I use it after cleaning Mass Airflow Sensor just for fun
Have ~ heard ~ you do it if install UR pulley among other things

OK who is gonna set me straight on that one !!!

But you arent pulling the ecu fuse, your pulling the Clock backup fuse. pulling the ECU fuse wont do it. the backup fuse is for teh power to remain to the ecu to remember its info.

Our ECUs are a limited learn and not much comes from doing it any ways. Plus if you do do it your "Technically" supposed to put it thru a relearn procedure

No real need to reset as the ECU automatically adjusts.

So you're saying don't pull the ECU fuse (#6 driver's side)? I already did pull the "clock, backup" fuse (#13 passenger side), that's what resets the ECU's memory, right?

Correct
the clock power is the backup power supply to the ECU
eliminate that and the memory goes away

Let us know if the car seems to drive different- other than whatever mod you did

I cleaned my EGR today - light is still on. I'm going to pull passenger side #13 - Does the car need to be on or off when I do this?

Exclamation

I installed a K&N drop in intake air filter, and now my car seems to be bogging slightly, it ran quite well for a while, but now its just bogging and has hesitation when im driving it, also the CEL is flashing now occasionally.

I've got navigation so should I remove just the #6 driverside fuse? or both the #6 and #13 passengerside fuse.

Thanks in advanced!
