Replacing Wheel Bearing
Replacing Wheel Bearing
Hi,
I hear a whining noise when accelerating coming from my front driver's side wheel and based upon what I read on this forum, I think my bearing needs to be replaced. I was thinking of doing it myself since I'm replacing my brakes/rotors too.
Is this a simple DIY job or should I take it to a shop? Does anyone have any instructions on it?
Lastly, is this something I can pick up at AutoZone or do I have to buy it from the dealer?
Thanks

i watched my boy do it who is a mechanic. and even though it only took him like a half an hour its something i wouldnt want to try to do. it also depends on how bad the bearing is like it being seized, welded itself to the hub,etc... when he did mine he was banging away trying to get the bearing out.
you can get it online or at pepboys i think. only like $40/side
imo id def bring it to someone unless you have the patience and is good with tools and the how to type stuff.

its not that bad of a job if you're plenty strong/have an inpact gun, basic tools a hammer and an advance auto parts nearby...they will rent out the tool you need for the job for FREE
personally i dont trust important parts from big companies like autozone/pepboys/advance-discount auto becuase they are usually expensive cheap ****** . i know 'cuase i've been working 9mo for aap. i'd spend the money on a oem part. delray acura (Fl) has a website and very good prices!
did the rears in my e30 few weeks ago just before i sold it
but dont be so sad for me, i already bought anotherone
