Angry Replacing tires - bubbles on side-wall

I don't know whether it's the potholes in Boston or what. I had to replace a tire last summer because a bubble bursted on the side wall. That happen when the car was just a year old. Now that's happening again to another tire. Those 17" cost $200 each. It just seems too much to maintain that kind of tire. Any replacement suggestions?

I suggest replacing the tire with a cheaper alternative. The stock tires are quite expensive, but not really worth it, in my opinion. You could go with Sumitomo's or Yokohama's or another comparable company, but save lots of $$ in the process.
And I feel your pain driving around Boston

stocks are bad IMO and are quite expensive. If you had a bubble in your sidewall that is a defective tire, should you play your cards right you may be able to get 2 new tires.

Go to yor tire dealer and ask about it. Tell him this is a defective tire, and at a minimum you want to get the tires pro rated toward the purchase of new tires.

I think These tires SUCK! The Sidewalls of them are not strong at all. I have a bubble on my sidewall now.. I said o myself that I would rather buy new rims with tires before i fork out 250 bucks for another tire.. If i replace this on which i'm not, it would be my 3! YES THIRD REPLACEMENT TIRE....!

How old is your car and how many miles? I've got only about 14K on it.

Is that a general problem for low-profile tires or is it just that the TL-S stock tires really suck?

1. don't the tires come with a road hazard warranty?

2. how much snow do you encounter? if not too much, go for the Dunlop SP5000

Tires come with a road hazard guarantee that is useless. I have the Dunlop sports ( I like them alot, I run @ 32 - 35 psi about 10 psi below man. rec.) My sidewall ripped at the edge of the tread design... I tried to get a warranty for it and I got jerked around,, it made so it wasn't worth the effort.

Side note, I still pais 180 bux a pop for them.

I just went to the dealer on Friday and I have to replace two tires with bubbles on them. I think i will go with the Sumi HTR+ since alot of people like them, plus they are not too expensive. Can anyone recommend other brands that might be worth looking at?

I'm on my 3rd stock tire too. All three of them developed a bubble on the side wall. I've only drivin around 12k miles on the stock tires, and potholes chew them up. I've driven 20k on my Toyos and not once has a pothole/curb caused a problem.

2 sumitomos cost less than 1 stock tire. For the same money as 2 stock tires, you can get 4 brand new sumitomos.

Yup, I was in your same poistion a few weeks ago and I got did a bit of research on tirerack.com and it seems like the Sumitomo HTR+ are your best bet. I only had one tire bubble up on me, but I was so sick of the stock tires that I replaced all 4.

The handling and grip is much better than the stock- IMO. I was pretty satisfied....... until this

but it's been replaced and now I'm happy again!!

Just replaced my stock tire yesterday! First time it's happened to me in 18k miles. I had to replace it with the same stock tire because I plan on getting T1-S's for the summer and run stock in the winter.
