I posted earlier on the Halo effect on my mirror which is HAZMAT.

Got a simple universal fit mirror from Advanced Auto Parts for $13. It says its for Ford, Chevy and all Imported Cars.

Do you know if this would fit the Acura TL. I just dont want to spend another 100 bucks for a rear view mirror which will go bad again in few years.

The mirror has been redesigned by Magna Donnely and it's apparently leak proof. I think someone posted that the new mirrors don't even have a fluid in them. In any case, I haven't read of any reports of the redesigned mirror leaking.

the new mirrors are designed differently and will not asplode!

the mirror isnt quite worth 100 bucks but its still nice to have auto dim at night.... and it looks much nicer then those universal ones at the parts stores which are usually square

 

I was able to wiggle + push down at the same time and get the old one out. The halo moves around (which is even worse) and I am glad I got it off my car.

As expected, universal mirror did not fit, I may just end up leaving the Acura holder in there and buy the $2.99 universal fit holder and put it up.

Yeah, I know auto dim would be great to have, but just cant cough up the 100 bucks for this and for the installation right now ...
