I recently got a tear in my 99 TL driver seat cover and I'd like to replace it. I read the thread about fixing the seat heater and it looks like I could pull the seat out, replace the cover, fix my broken heater (while I'm at it) and put it back together.

I found a 2003 TL on CL for $800 since the guy let the timing belt break. I asked him if I could purchase just the seat covers and he seems agreeable, but we're not sure on compatibility? Are the 2003 interior leather seat covers the same dimensions as my 99?

I dont know about the 1999 but I swapped the 03 CL Seats into mine. It required rewiring for the passenger seat but none for my driver's seat. But I am still having issues with it

 

The covers should be similar in dimensions and fit, the actual seats and wiring differ.
Try searching previous related threads on this subject for better information.

 

or you could ck craigslist for someone doing upholstery out of their home
Work for about half the cost of a shop- often retired from that same shop~

They can fix stitching, splice in a repair piece or make all new covers with padding modded to your butt specs
