Repair/Shop Manuals

Has anybody been able to find and buy repair or shop manuals for their 2002 TL-S? If so, where and how?

Here:

For the model choose just TL not 3.2 TL. The year is 2001 for the manual and 2002 for the supplement.

How detailed are the Helms manuals? Do they give torque specs for bolts, etc?

They give torque specs for EVERYTHING.

These are the manuals that the dealers use. They're fantastic -- they blow the crap from Chilton's away.

I haven't ordered them yet, but I've seen the 2002 supplement and it includes full coverage of the Type S as well.

Required reading!

The question is do we with TL-P 2002 really need that supplement since our car did not change a lot? If someone who has a manual can let us now because the price is huge for us Canadians and not ordering a supplement can save us a few dollars.

Actually, the TLP changed a lot as well for 02. I remember Acura touting something like 500 improvements. At a minimum, the fog lights, reverse tilt mirror, CD changer, memory seats are all new features for 02. I'm sure there are lots of other things besides the Type S changes.

A lot of times there are several not-so-visible year-to-year changes within the same car model that the supplement would list and explain. If you were to run into a problem with your 2002 and use the 2001 manual to diagnose it, the manual may not be 100% apropos to your specific car. Also, because of the cosmetic changes between the 2001 and 2002 model years, some body-related procedures have changed -- removing the front bumper, for instance.

It sucks to have to spend the money, but this is one thing that's well worth it if you like to work on your own car.

Mr. Hyde,
I sent that question to Helms and it looks like the supplement covers the Type-S changes. I am going to send a reply just to confirm. I'll let you know.

I have both so I can say that yes, the 2002 supplement covers anything that was changed between the 2001 and 2002 models for both TL-P and TL-S. The supplement will reference certain pages in the original manual ('99-'01) so you really need both to work on an '02. FYI, the '02 supplement is about 1/4 the thickness of the original manual. There were more than 500 changes between the '01 and '02 models (according to Acura's press releases) and you can definitely see them in the supplement.

and they certainly don't give them away! Over a hundred bucks, ouch.

Oh well, gonna get them anyway.

Can one of you with the manual tell me what foot pounds should we re-torque the strut tower nuts too? (post strut tower bar install).

Thanks
